Seven years ago this week I wrote my first ever blog post. I was sitting in the hospital waiting room while Rich was in surgery, the same hospital I would later deliver our two children. For some reason, it seemed like a good idea to distract myself by writing about the beet and wheat berry salad I had made from home to eat while spending the day in the hospital than to sit and stare at the TV monitor all day waiting for updates on his surgery. I'm going to go ahead and say that was probably a good decision.
Like so many of us who began blogging before blogging was a way to make money or launch a business, I had no idea what would unfold in the years to come. I never imagined I would one day appear on the TODAY Show, speak at conferences, or be hired to travel all over the world. More excitingly, I never imagined I would get paid to stay home with my kids while developing, styling and photographing recipes (including the brand that makes those very same wheat berries where it all began.) Look, blogging is a weird gig. Believe me, I get it. Actually, I don't get it. And I hope I never "get it." Because I don't ever want to down play the fact that living a life in your creative genius is anything short of magical. Whether it's getting to travel to Bermuda for an assignment or getting a shipment of free wheat berries in the mail, I don't ever want to pretend that any of it is anything other than incredible.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all of you who have believed in me, pushed me and inspired me along the way. I am so grateful for my tribe. Lastly, thank you to my husband for letting me chase after my dream. None of this would mean anything if I didn't have you. 💙 Here's to the next 7 years! 🍾 #blogging #entrepreneurship #girlboss
