"Working moms be like 😉

I was photographing my muffins and my little dude decided it was time for a snack:) I have now breast fed 3 kids for a total of 46 months combined. My mom, this group, The Leaky Boob, Kathy Rude my midwife, and Jessica Martin-Weber have been a huge part of that. I made it to nine months with my first before she (what I thought) self weaned but apparently was going through a nursing regression. I found the leaky boob around the time I was pregnant with number 2, made it to 22 months with her when I was pregnant with this guy. My nipples were SUPER sensitive and she didn't want my milk after it changed so we were both ok bidding our nursing journey farewell. My son is now 15 months and we are going strong:) I'm so grateful for the education support and community this group has brought. With ya'll's advice I've made it through early teethers, biting, pinching, mastitis, tongue tie, thrush, nursing strikes, oversupply and forceful letdown, working and everything in between. I've also had the honor of donating over 1,000 oz of milk to other littles and have received donor milk when I was in the hospital at one point. I am now a Doula and am able to help others in their nursing journey.
My son is 16 months old and loves to nurse. I am a Photographer, Birth Doula and Mom. I have been so blessed by amazing women who have come along side me in my Motherhood journey. I feel that when we as women support one another and help them become successful in motherhood it propels and empowers them to be successful in all areas of their lives. It is my life's calling to support women and make them feel loved, empowered and capable. I have had the amazing honor of others doing that for me and it makes me want to pay it forward. Together we are stronger. It doesn't just take a village to raise a child but to raise mothers too. Let's be that village." That moment when you are ice fishing and the baby needs to eat... feeling bitter sweet thinking about this moment almost a month ago. Our nursing days are nearing an end which means my days of nursing babies is nearly over. I have truly loved breastfeeding and tho part of me is ready to take my body back and take care of myself I will be sad when my baby girl decides she is done nursing. #beautifulbfing #beautifulbreastfeeding #nursingonthego #mamaoffour

Read the whole thing, this is important. Some things are none of our business and frankly, what this woman did did not help any cause, just made breastfeeding supporters look insensitive and rude. Don't do this. #fedisbest #feedallthebabies #parenting. #Repost @laurabenanti

PSA in two parts

Such a beautiful looped video. Does breastfeeding help calm your little one? Can you relate to this moment?
.
This has been me many times, trying to change or getting out of the shower and the little one is upset, you do what you gotta do to care for them. Why yes, I will drop to the floor in the buff to soothe you and savor these moments of your soft skin against mine while my arms, breast, and milk have the almost magical properties of making all the sads go away because some day soothing your troubles will be so much more difficult. Today, it is just you and me. ❤️

What I am thinking about this Sunday morning...
.
Without fail, conversations about breastfeeding in public end up with someone arguing that to cover is "modest", at the very least implying that anyone that doesn't cover isn't modest.
.
But this argument is a fallacy. For starters, "modesty" is subjective from burkas to two piece swimsuits, to bare shoulders to 3/4 length sleeves, from collar bones to cleavage, from knees to ankles. For some, modesty is connected to their faith and for others it is just a personal standard of comfort.
.
Regardless of how one defines modesty, is it even appropriate to apply it to feeding babies? How can feeding babies be immodest? Modesty is actually a mindset or as my mom would say, a condition of the heart. There is nothing self-serving or bragging about feeding a baby. We should stop confusing that.
.
In fact, we should stop throwing this word around when it comes to feeding babies, particularly if we're bragging about being modest. It is just... immodest to do so.
.
Because IG is scared of links, you can't click on this link but if you google the leaky boob modesty this should be the first result. An in depth look at breastfeeding and modesty: http://theleakyboob.com/2013/07/breastfeeding-and-following-jesus-uninviting-modesty-to-the-breastfeeding-discussion/ #breasfeeding #beautifulbfing #bfing #modesty #normalizebreastfeeding #art #meme #baby #parenting

There's a range of normal! When did your milk come in?

Mature milk comes in usually 3-5 days after birth and until the milk transitions, your body produces colostrum, so special it is often called liquid gold! #beautifulbfing #breasfeeding

Did you breastfeed or are you now, through pregnancy?

The baby in this beautiful belly arrived last night! 10lbs and 11oz born at home! Leslie's first birth was a fairly traumatic birth, after envisioning a home birth with a midwife, she went into labor early, much before her due date, and had complications shortly after her son took his first breath that required a helicopter lift to a hospital in Albuquerque.

Leslie is a river guide and skier and connected deeply to the land she lives on with her family, the sage, rivers and ski slopes of Taos, NM.

Leslie wanted pregnant photos with her first pregnancy but because of the early arrival of her son it didn't happen. So it was a special day, to make these photos together in their home on the beautiful sage dotted mesa in Taos at nearly 40 weeks of gestation!
Leslie was able to breastfeed her son throughout her pregnancy and also told me that despite living in the world that we do, which leaves most women feeling like they are never enough in their bodies and soul, she feels at peace with her body and is free from body image issues. She marvels at what her body can do as she navigates rapids on the Rio Grande and skis the backcountry of the Taos mountains.
We are more powerful than we know, and more sacred and divine in this skin than we have been trained to believe, my beautiful sisters. Happy Sunday to you on this holiday for many! #beautifulbfing #breastfeeding #bfing #pregnancy #normalizebreastfeeding

I miss you all. Instagram just isn't what it used to be with the "curated" feed model they've switched too and I find myself frustrated more often than not. Anyone else? #instagram

Sisterhood. Womanhood. Motherhood. Honoring each other's journeys, respecting each other's choices, holding each other in loving kindness. That's some kind of magic, mamas ✨❤️✨

Sometimes there are debates about the appropriateness of breastfeeding in public and one argument that we see used is that of body fluids and other natural bodily functions. Comparisons are sometimes made between breastfeeding in public and, say, urinating, defecating, and sex acts in public.
.
We break down the fallacy of those arguments and explore how feeding a baby is so different than, well, taking a piss.
.
Until a synthetic version is being bottled and sold on store shelves as infant nutrition supplementation there's no comparison. ;) http://theleakyboob.com/2012/01/exploring-the-body-fluids-debate-about-breastfeeding-in-public/ #normalizebreastfeeding #breastfeeding #bfing #feedallthebabies #breastfeedinginpublic

Let's talk about something that can be kind of difficult: trusting our partner in how they parent. Is this a struggle for you?
.
I'm not talking about trusting them when there are obvious signs of neglect or issues of lack of knowledge and skill- which can and should be addressed. I mean just trusting them that though they do it differently than you do, they are perfectly capable, you just have to give them the space to do it and develop their confidence. And trust them.
.
After having 6 babies together (and one has made it to adulthood- The others are well on their way it seems), my partner, who has never breastfed, shares what us breastfeeding parents can do to help the non-breastfeeding parent bond with our babies. His insight was not only heartwarming but helpful, I wish I could have read it back when we were just starting our parenting journey.
.
Check out his points in the link in our profile and let us know if there are any you would add. #beautifulbfing #breastfeeding #letloveflo #parenting
