Shanice Lewis is hoping that she and her family will be spending Christmas in a new home. The family of six, which includes four small children, is living in extreme poverty in a remote section of Farm in Clarendon. All it would take is some strong wind or heavy downpour for the family to lose their home that is made out of old zinc and boards.  Lewis said that she is originally from Trelawny but relocated to Clarendon after the passing of her mother and grandmother. She settled with her partner and children in the broken down shack. These days their main source of income comes from burning and selling charcoal.

A Corporate Area taxi operator said he and another male recently had to 'tek kin teet kibba heart bun' after they were robbed at gunpoint by two women posing as passengers. But the taxi man said the females made off with less than $1,000. "Mi take up the two girl dem a Half-Way Tree and the sexier one come sidung beside mi. Afterwards, a youth come in the car, and mi leave the taxi stand shortly after because mi never did a get no more passenger. The girl at the front start chat mi out but the one a back never did a say anything, but mi never did a pay it no mind," he said.

For almost a week, Yanique ‘Curvy Diva’ Barrett had been trying to get in contact with her stylist, Keshon Hawthorne. The recording artiste/host, told THE STAR that she had been seeking his advice for outfits to wear for her performance over the weekend. The 'Lifestyle' entertainer shared that she had actually heard about the arrest of Montego Bay disc jockey, DJ Crazy Chris, and his run-in with the US Border and Protection officers in Charlotte, North Carolina before receiving news about Hawthorne, who, according to reports in international news media, was held in the same state two days before for allegedly trafficking cocaine.

Most people would not consider an outside bathroom to be a living space in the most desperate of times, but for a sickly 61-year-old Trelawny man, it is what he has been calling home for several years. Carlton Franksin of Granville in Trelawny has been living in an outside bathroom for the majority of his 20 years he has been in the parish.Franksin's living condition is far from perfect in the cramped and dilapidated structure. Inside, he only has a worn down sponge bed to sleep on, and some old clothes heaped in a corner.

Investigators will be relying on footage from a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera as they seek to uncover who is responsible for the murder of a parent yesterday morning outside Lannaman's Preparatory School in St Andrew. The deceased has been identified as Ainsley Folkes. He was killed shortly after dropping off his child at the institution. "There are cameras around, there is a camera on the school building so it is likely that some activity may have been captured," a policeman told THE STAR as he cordoned the scene.

A church service was interrupted on Sunday following the arrest of the pastor for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl. A church member, who did not wish to be named, said the congregation was in the middle of a service when the mayhem started. "We were praying and I saw two officers come to the church door. He (the pastor) was praying at the alter, so the police told one of the ushers to go and call him," the member said.

Back in April, Junior Paige was finding it difficult to get a job because he did not have a birth certificate at the time. However, he is now a happy man, as he now has the precious document after being assisted through the National Identification System (NIDS) project which is being run out of the Office of the Prime Minister. NIDS is currently providing birth certificates free of cost to Jamaicans who are not or only partially registered before officially starting the programme next year.

There was no shortage of tears on Sunday as family members and well-wishers filled the Farm Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church in St James to say goodbye to Deon Smith and her daughter, Jay-Shenel Gordon, who were brutally murdered on September 23. According to reports, 43-year-old Smith was stabbed multiple times by her common-law husband, Fabian Lyewsang, during an argument at their home in Rose Heights. Lyewsang then went to Gordon's room and slashed the teenager's throat while she slept.
