A lot has changed for me in the past year and the biggest accomplishment was completing my certification to teach Yoga. It has been a passion of mine and helped save me 2 1/2 years ago to reclaim myself and that everything I do, I deserve.

The training was raw. I learned more about myself with my Kula in 9 weeks than I have in the last 10 years. I have learned to release what does not serve me and only allow those with like-minded thoughts and goals to be within my inner circle. No more of allowing people to take advantage of me. Finally doing what I am here to do!!👌🏻

Last Day!! Day 10 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.🤸🏼‍♀️

Firefly🧚🏼‍♀️ We saved the best and hardest pose for last. I can’t tell you how many times I fell down doing this, but I didn’t give up and was finally able to get into modified firefly with blocks. Full expression would be extending the legs straight and with no blocks.🧘🏼‍♀️
.
Firefly Pose stretches the inner groin and back torso while strengthening the arms and wrists and toning the core. This is a challenging Balance pose. If you fall, get back up. If you need a block, grab a block. Practice until you have it!! 🙌🏻

Day 8 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.🤸🏼‍♀️

Dolphin 🐬 Pose strengthens and stretches the shoulders, arms, upper back, and legs. It helps to bring flexibility to the spine, hamstrings, and calves.
.
How do you perform Dolphin?
-Begin on your hands and knees. Align your wrists directly under your shoulders, and your knees directly under your hips. The fold of your wrists should be parallel to the top edge of your mat, and your middle fingers should point directly forward.
-Lower your elbows to the floor directly beneath your shoulders. Keep your forearms parallel to each other and to the side edges of your mat. Distribute your weight evenly across both forearms.
-Tuck your toes and lift your knees off the floor. Reach your pelvis up toward the ceiling, then draw your sit bones toward the wall behind you. Keep your knees bent as you lengthen your spine and broaden across your shoulder blades.
-Then, gently begin to straighten your legs. Bring your torso and legs into the shape of an "A." Do not walk your feet closer to your hands — keep the extension of your whole body. If your upper back begins to round, bend your knees again until your spine is straight.
-Lift your right leg high to the sky, square your hips with the floor and keep the core engaged.
-Draw your shoulder blades into your upper back ribs and toward your tailbone. Widen across your collarbones.
-Align your ears with your upper arms. Relax your head, but do not let it dangle. Gaze between your legs or toward your navel.
-Hold for 5-25 breaths.
-Lower your leg to the ground, push up to downward dog and walk your dog.
-Repeat on the left side

Day 7 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.🤸🏼‍♀️

Lizard Pose 🦎 stretches the hip flexors, hamstrings and quads. It strengthens the inner thigh muscles, opens up the chest, shoulders and neck.

How do you perform Lizard?
-From a high lunge, place both hands on the floor to the inside of your right foot.
-Lower your left knee to the floor. Bring your forearms down onto a block or, if it feels appropriate, to the floor.
-Stay for 5 to 8 breaths, then place your hands back on the floor, straighten your back leg, and step forward into Standing Forward Fold.
-After a few breaths there, bend your knees and roll all the way up to Mountain Pose. Repeat on the other side to balance your body.

Toe Squat/Malasana Pose opens up the hips and groin, stretches the ankles, hamstrings, back and neck. This is a grounding pose and it can help calm the body when outside energies are out of line.

Day 4 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.

Big Toe Hold Pose increases your concentration and focus. It improves your sense of balance while strengthening and stretching the ankles while gently opening up the hips, shoulders and arms.

How do you perform Big Toe Hold Pose?
-Begin in Mountain Pose with your feet together and arms at your sides.
-Shift your weight to your left foot. Draw your right knee up toward your chest. Bring your right arm to the inside of your right thigh. Then loop your index and middle fingers around your right foot’s big toe. Place your left hand on your left hip.
-Straighten your spine. Strongly engage your abdominal muscles and the muscles of your left leg. Straighten your left leg, but do not lock your knee.
-On an exhalation, extend your right leg forward. Straighten your right leg as much as possible. Option to bring your leg out to the side.
-Keep both hips squared forward and keep your spine straight. Do not scrunch your neck or shoulders; keep them soft and relaxed.
-Drop your right hip slightly so it is in line with your left hip. Bring your awareness to your midline — the line that runs directly down the center of your body.
-Hold for 5-20 breaths. To release, draw your knee back into your chest, then slowly lower your foot to the floor. Come back to Mountain Pose. Then repeat on the opposite side for the same amount of time.

Day 3 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.

Crows Pose or Bakasana is an arm balancing pose that is the foundation for many other arm balancing poses. It works on strengthening your arms, wrists, core and legs. It allows the body to stretch the upper back which allows the increasing flexibility of the spine.
.
How do you perform Crow Pose?
-From standing, squat down and place your hands flat on your mat about shoulder-width apart with the fingers spread wide.
-Keep the hands and feet where they are but lift the hips way up toward the sky, bend the knees and lift the heels off the floor so just the balls of the feet are down. -Gently press the knees in to the backs of the triceps and begin to shift your weight into the fingertips, picking one foot at a time off the floor. -Bend the elbows if necessary for balance. Use the core to draw the navel in toward the spine to stabilize and find that “lift” in the center of the body that eventually allows you to straighten the elbows and hold. Be sure to bring your gaze just between the hands to maintain balance.

Day 2 of #balancelikeayogi 10 Day Challenge.

Dancers Pose builds full body strength, flexibility and coordination. It opens up the front body of the shoulders, chest and hips as it stretches the thighs, ankles and abdomen. This pose over time develops more flexibility in the spine, shoulders and hamstrings.
.
How do you perform dancer?
-Stand in Mountain Pose
-Shift your weight onto your left foot, and lift your right heel toward your right buttock as you bend the knee. -Press the head of your left thigh bone back, deep into the hip joint, and pull the knee cap up to keep the standing leg straight and strong.
-Stay here and hold for 20-30 seconds or move into full expression by Kicking back into your right hand as you bend forward. Note, I am working on the flexibility in my back and leg to be able to move to King Dancer. 🤸🏼‍♀️
