theHeart  Attempting to be and do church in a simple way. With love.

Hello Church Family

Like many of you, we've been keeping an eye on the weather. According to the reports we've seen, Winter Storm Diego is projected to produce a significant amount of snow in the High Country over the next 24-36 hours. Something like 10-18 inches or more.

After a great deal of conversation and consideration, we have decided to cancel ALL GATHERINGS tomorrow, December 9.

Typically we commit to gathering on Sundays, snow or shine. But this storm is being called the most significant of its kind in the past 20 years. We are responsible for the safety of hundreds of people, including the Watauga High School custodial staff and our volunteers. And we simply don't want people who travel from all across the area to feel like they have to risk it tomorrow.

Instead, we want you to stay home, enjoy some hot cocoa, and make some lasting memories in the snow. Here are some reminders to keep you warm by the fire:

Also a reminder that there will be NO morning gatherings on Sunday, December 16, due to renovations being made to the high school auditorium. We hope you will join us for a special Christmas Evening Gathering on December 16 at 6pm at Three Forks Baptist Church.

We had planned to collect gift-filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this Sunday. Instead, please plan to bring your shoeboxes on Sunday, December 23. We will deliver them directly to the Processing Center in Boone.

Canceling our gatherings means we won't be with one another. It can also negatively impact our momentum as we work to overcome a budget deficit. Currently, we need to make up a $44,000 shortfall while still covering our monthly expenses. We have about three weeks left in the year to make that happen. If 500 people gave one additional gift of $150 to theHeart, we could overcome our deficit. To make a year-end donation online, you can give here.

Blessings to you all. Please be safe.
