I’m sharing the best plant based foods for each phase throughout my cycle this month. I’m now moving into the ovulatory phase! 💋 > This phase can also be considered as the “summer” season in your body☀️ This is when the big event of #ovulation happens. Typically, you are only fertile for 24 hours in your cycle (when the egg is released), but sperm can live in you for up to 5 days because they are nourished and kept alive by your fertile cervical mucus (which is a stretchy, egg-white consistency). this is why tracking your cycle, cervical mucus and basal body temperature is important if you are trying to avoid pregnancy. that way, you can either avoid sex altogether or use protection. > Around day 12 of your cycle, the dominant follicle secretes a surge of estrogen, prompting a flood of luteinizing hormone (LH) which causes the dominant follicle to grow rapidly until around day 14, when the follicle finally ruptures to release the egg! this is why you may feel a sharp twinge or cramping on one or both sides of your abdomen. Ovulation is a vital part of your menstrual cycle and is the only way your body is able to make progesterone in the next phase (the luteal phase). > You are MAGNETIC in this phase ⚡️ Your skin is extra glowy, the whites of your eyes are brighter, you feel more social and talkative, you have lots of energy, your libido is HIGH and you’re probably having some great hair days 💁🏼‍♀️ > These foods are cleansing, full of fiber and anti-inflammatory. Now is the time to focus on raw fruits and veggies. Other foods to focus on include cantaloupe, raspberries, guava, fennel, eggplant, okra, turmeric, pistachios and amaranth.

true story: it was a heck of a lot easier for me to eat and find plant based options in Puerto Vallarta than it is here in a Chicago suburb... 🤔 just waiting for organic and plant based to catch on... what I would give!! while eating at this adorable food spot, I told Terry 3 times that I would pay a lot of money to have this little gem back home. a girl can dream!! @barralight p.s. they also had biodegradable straws 💗 // I have a list of PV restaurants if you want it! #plantbasedeats

ESTROGEN DETOX SMOOTHIE // on the blog, I’m sharing all about estrogen excess, the symptoms associated with it, the causes and how to treat it 🤓 if you experience PMS symptoms before your period, you probably have an excess of estrogen. it is the most common hormonal imbalance in women but don’t worry, there are SO many things you can do!!! > having balanced hormones is about so much more than just making babies.. you may not care or think its important, but hormone harmony is essential for healthy menstrual cycles, healthy follicles, ovulation, bone health, heart health, longevity and overall wellness. having balanced hormones now determines how your body will transition into menopause, too 😚 > this deee-lish smoothie is one way to nutritionally support your body // 🌿 obviously one smoothie will not cure all your hormonal problems which is why I share holistic, whole-body approaches to women’s wellness. I also share the best times in your cycle to sip on this 🌸 check it all out on the blog >>> theglowingfridge.com #happyhormones #hormonebalance #estrogendetox

I’m sharing the best plant based foods for each phase throughout my cycle this month! Right now, I’m in the follicular phase 🐒

The follicular phase is the phase right after your period, when your body prepares to release an egg (#ovulation). It can also be considered as the “spring” season in your body! 🌸 Each ovary has hundreds of thousands of follicles, which are sacs of cells containing an immature egg at the center. The pituitary gland is signaled to release FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) to stimulate a number of follicles to grow (but only one will win!). The maturing follicles release estradiol to thicken the uterine lining for implantation, should the egg become fertilized. > Think new beginnings and trying new things, creativity, happier mood, brain optimization, increased energy and awakening libido 😘 > All of this internal work requires proper nutrients for healthy, maturing follicles and lots of healthy fats! The foods listed above contain high levels of vitamin B6, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, monounsaturated fats and fiber. Other foods to focus on include olives, asparagus, peas, cherries, plums, pomegranates, all the nut butter, vinegar-based sauces and dressings, broccoli sprouts and sprouted mung beans 🥑🍋🥝🥦🥕🍒 > other supplements to consider for the follicular phase: zinc, iodine & selenium, vitamin B6 and probiotics 😎

Do you like these more informative-type posts?!! I sure do love to share them 💗 #follicularphase #cyclephases #menstrualcycle #fertilityfood #plantbasedfoods

I’m back to filming YouTube videos after a 2-year hiatus! I would always make an excuse not to film like... the house is a mess, I hate my brown kitchen countertops (lol) or I have nothing “cool” going on, but I love making videos and realized I will regret it if I don’t try again. so I filmed and uploaded a new video 🙈 instead of overthinking it, I just did it and had so much fun! // it’s not perfect but I don’t want to hold myself back anymore 😝 so give it a watch if you wanna see my morning routine, how I do my minimal makeup (using @crunchicollection!) and this #follicularphase friendly & yummy breakfast! my YouTube channel is: The Glowing Fridge 💗 how are you going to push through something instead of holding yourself back today?!! #happyfriday

what 30 looks like so far 😝 fresh coconut water during the day and tequila sodas at night 🥥 I have lots to be grateful for >> I’ll be getting married to my best friend this year 👰🏼, my book will be released this summer (we changed the title to The Happy Hormone Guide!) 📖, I’ll be traveling more and focusing on helping more women achieve hormone balance naturally 🙌🏻 I still feel 22, so riding that wave as long as I can ha, but for now, 30 is quite alright 🥰 #turning30

plants on plants 🌿 simple glow bowls with minimal ingredients keep my energy up and make my hormones happy 💫 I assemble them according to the cycle phase I’m in, to honor what my body wants and needs. eating for your cycle may seem complicated but it’s actually very simple and creates body literacy >> a knowing that hormonal shifts impact your thoughts and feelings every single day. once you get the hang of it, you stop judging yourself for feeling some type of way before your period. you stop chalking up areas of your life as failures because whether you like it or not, each cycle phase influences the exercise you feel like doing, the foods you want to eat, the type of communication you need, how social you want to be, the sex you want to have, how tired you feel, how you perform at work, how creative you feel, etc. 💗 knowing where you are at is a way to connect to your inner wisdom and get in touch with the ebs and flows of your body. and that’s why I love it so much. it centers and grounds me and gives me a sense of direction. when you use it to your advantage and learn to leverage each area of your life, things just FLOW... and that’s when the real magic happens ✨ this #plantbased bowl with spring mix, tempeh, cucumber & avocado is perfect for the #follicularphase and moving into the #ovulatoryphase 🌸 have a question?!! ask me anything below! and learn to eat for your cycle on the blog 🥰 #hormonebalance

I thought about editing my under eye circles, but I roll my eyes at those super fake pics, and I’m sure you do too. I am using a filter (which does help) but I’m at the point where idgaf anymore. I’m turning 30 in a few weeks, so maybe this new attitude comes with age... 🤷🏼‍♀️ so what if I woke up looking a little tired? It’s not that bad. Also almost in my #ovulatoryphase which also helps 🥳 Anyways! There’s a new post on the blog all about ‘New Year Detox and Wellness Tips’ // these are long-term focused, no quick fixes here! I really enjoyed writing this blog post and got a little vulnerable, so I hope you love it. most are lifestyle focused, but my favorite new tip that I’ve implemented is Diatomaceous Earth, and I’m obsessed. read all about it on the blog >> link in bio!! love you long time 😘 #wellnesstips #newyear #diatomaceousearth #naturaldetox @diatomaceousearthcom

NEW! // Seed Cycling Energy Balls 🌟 my latest blog post covers seed cycling, along with two yummy recipes - one for each rotation! seed cycling is a naturopathic method of rotating different seeds at different times in your cycle. doing this helps to nutritionally support natural hormone balance and helps alleviate PMS symptoms like acne, amenorrhea, heavy periods, mood swings, fatigue, cramps and more // the first rotation includes flaxseed & pumpkin seed, and the second includes sesame and sunflower seeds 🙌🏻🥰 there’s so much more in my blog post outlining when to eat what seeds, but I love seed cycling and it has been super effective at balancing my hormones naturally because of the unique oils, vitamins and minerals each seed has to offer // recipes on theglowingfridge.com and I use a lot of seeds from @terrasoul 💗 #seedcycling #naturalhormonebalance
