Dieting Is My Choice

🚨Please Read🚨

Let's first start with the understanding that I live in a first world country where food is readily available anywhere I go. I could eat 24/7 if I wanted to. I'm blessed to live in a country where this is true.
-
Now we move onto the fact that dieting is my choice. I choose to eat less. I choose to have less energy. This is all my choice.
-
So the past 3 weeks, I chose to be agreessive with my mini cut to get myself in prime condition for photo shoots that I have coming up. So that meant low macros for that time period. We have to dig. And this week, we have to deplete even more. So that means digging even deeper. That means less macros. That means lower energy. That means some brain fog. That means me becoming agitated much more easily. That means me not feeling best.

But it all comes back to it being MY CHOICE. I choose this for myself. And I constantly have to remind myself this when I want to snap on someone or when I am tired or when I don't want to do something. This self awareness to be honest, has helped me so much. I have now started asking myself, "Is my reaction/feeling because I am dieting or is it justified?"

I just wanted to share this with you all because I've been battling this for some time. How many arguments happen when people are hungry. If we all became self aware of this, then I think it would help tremendously.

The 14 Year Old Kid That Changed My Life (Video edition in my next post)

This past weekend at the Olympia, I got to meet a special young man by the name of Jimmy (@jimmy.broderick) -
Jimmy has been making my recipes for over a year now and this weekend was the first time I had ever met him in person! And I had no clue about his story until his Mom shared it with me at the expo..... it literally changed my life.
-
Jimmy struggled with his weight growing up and was an overweight kid. His family and friends would tell him what and what not to eat. They told him what and what not to drink. This lead him to stop eating or drinking completely and he lost a ton of weight. Jimmy had a really bad eating disorder and he was admitted to the hospital for anorexia. His Mom was worried sick about him.

And what she shared with me this weekend literally made my whole life. She told me that when Jimmy found my page, he started making my recipes and he started eating again. He restored his relationship with food. He learned about macros and proper balance. He started to get healthy again. He turned his life all around. His friends at school were now asking for his advice on nutrition. (*He is only 14.... think of where you were and what you were doing at 14 years old...)

This literally makes everything I've ever done worth it. I could die today and my life would be a success. Jimmy is a special young man who will have a positive impact on so many lives now. And hearing his story left me in tears.

So I told his Mom that on Saturday of the expo, she could drop him off and he was hanging out with us all day. He was going to meet anyone/everyone he wanted. He was part of the crew!
-
So when I use the word "Success" this is what I mean. No dollar value can be placed on this. This is arguably my most prized accomplishment. I'm still in shock.

Traveling Back Home To Austin Today After An Unbelievable Weekend! ✈️

🚨Please Read For Pro Tip On Balance 🚨

So last night, after two epic days of the expo, we went out with the crew to Omnia Night Club to see @Kaskade kill it!!
-
But in reality, I was soo drained from the last couple days of the expos but also from my aggressive mini cut I'm doing right now for my photo shoots this upcoming weekend. The fact that I was already super tired and our flight was super early this morning, I knew that I'd only get a few hours of sleep.... I honestly didn't want to go out.
-
But I then put it all in perspective... I knew that I'd regret not going out. This is one of the rare occasions when all my friends were in one place. I had to take advantage of this. I have began to realize that relationships are the most important asset you can have. It's what truly matters. The human element. So I took the leap and went out!
-
"So Zach, did you drink while you were out!?!" Well my plan was not to do so. I can have a great time without drinking. But I decided to practice moderation and use the rest of my cals for the day on a couple vodkas on the rocks. I knew that opportunity cost was that I would not have any macros left for the rest of the night and would probably be super hungry but I was ok with that. It was MY choice. I knew how to fit it and still stay on track.
-
The moral of the story is that I had an amazing time last night! I got to further develop even stronger relationships and make new ones as well! My network of amazing people got even stronger and you cannot put a price on something like that. It is truly priceless.

So looking back on last night, I have a big smile on my face 😊 Am I super tired!? Yes without a doubt. Will I consume bit more caffeine than normal today? Probably β˜•οΈ But the bigger question is... Do I understand the opportunity costs of all my decisions in life? Absolutely! And even more important.... Do I understand how this understanding help me to create a life full of significance/purpose/value while also being so fun and rewarding!? Without a doubt πŸ™Œ
