I was given the honor of being a presenter at The Gracie Awards. My 2 minute "speech" is below, please take a moment to read it.
The Gracie Awards are to celebrate and honor women in media.
📌My "speech": "Thank you so much for inviting me into this room today. I am proud and grateful to be a part of the community of women in media, especially at a time where I see the field opening up to us even more than ever. I get to work alongside great talents on and off the air, in management and leadership positions, and of course, we have the support of some wonderful men as well.
I attended a Panel of Women in Broadcasting this past weekend...all women I admire greatly...and they talked about needing to be tough to make it in this business. This can definitely be a tough business, but as I hear more female voices on the air and see women moving into management, I am very aware that we are being recognized for who we are. Each of us comes with a different life experience a different approach and personality..now I am finding more room and acceptance for who we are. Now, one woman doesn't have to try to speak for all women because there can be more than one woman on a morning show...such as ours. So, if you are tough and bold, great..if you are funny, go for it, if you are sensitive and caring and full of empathy for your listeners that is now valued as well. Sometimes there is a great deal of strength in quiet dignity. Every single person in this room is strong...because it takes a great deal of strength to get through this life. As we accept and recognize the true talent, hard work, creativity and gifts that every individual has to offer, the more we can voice our authentic selves and the better we can represent our listeners and viewers. None of us do this alone and I am so grateful for the opportunities I have been given in radio and to be trusted with the amazing, beautiful responsibility of speaking, informing and being a friend to our listeners." -Christine
