This is the B series of my plan with the A exercise being leg extensions for a pre-fatigue and the C1 and C2 being lying leg curls to give the hamstrings a little touch up before they get their own day later in the week and then single-sided leg press to finish off the quads

The lunges (although hard to see from this angle) use about a quarter of the distance taken in a regular lunge as you take each step. The extra bending and gained range-of-motion of the front knee is great for more muscle fibre stimulation, but worthy of note is that compared to a standard lunge where the front leg takes a majority of the load you'll have a more even weight distribution between the front and back leg. They're great for higher rep schemes and lower loads to tap into the metabolic stress aspect as going heavy could be risky if not done with correct form.

Glute pushdowns are becoming incredibly popular with the glute toning crowd.

It makes me wonder why I see loads of videos of people doing this but almost zero videos of people just doing weighted step ups.

I've been emphasizing it within my training by doing at the minimum twice per week since I last stepped on stage in 2013 and am genuinely pumped to see what it looks like these days with stage-ready conditioning/leanness.

I literally had 6kg each hand for the raises and 17.5kg each hand for the press and was smoked after 4 sets.

This is in one of the 3 days I'm doing in my current training block to try to bring my delts up for next year. If you ever try this it's better to underestimate the weight than overestimate, you're looking for the "burn" here, not to break weight PB's. 4 sets, 12 reps each and your shoulders will be toast.
