“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” 2 TIMOTHY 1:7
“But I say to you, love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” MATTHEW 5:44 AMP
Who is your enemy and who is the one who persecutes you? It is the one who tempts you to hate, to be angry, to be selfish, to be unmerciful, to be unforgiving, to be unloving. If anyone causes you to do any of those things, pray for them and seek their best.
“As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” Romans 4:17
