A favorite glute 🍑 exercise of mine, which I feel many people often do not do effectively. In order to really target the glutes, keep your back up straight and your core tight. Keep the range of motion short and controlled. Do 3-4 sets for each leg aiming for a rep range of 12-15. Really make a mind-muscle connection with those glutes.

Here is a great superset for legs using the smith machine. I did a squat variation keeping my legs wide and out in front, toes angled out and only going a 1/4 of the way up. This will really target the glutes and the top shelf of the booty! 🍑Strip some of the weight off and go right into jumps. Do 3 sets of 15 on the squats and go to failure on the jumps! Variety is 🔑 my friends!!! Happy Monday!

Friday form police 👮‍♀️ It’s not often that I do “weighted” ab exercises but when I do, form is of the ught most importance. This is an upper ab exercise done on the cables. So often people tend to do this exercise by using momentum and swinging their entire body. In order to effectively do this move, very little range of motion is actually needed. Be sure to NOT use your hands/arms to bring the weight down. Simply rest your hands on your head and focus on using your upper abs to do the work. The weight you choose is not as important as form and keeping the upper abs in a constant state of tension. Give it a try next time you do abs. Perform 3-4 sets of 15 reps. Happy Friday! 💪

The one time failure is your friend is in the gym. Try this superset for shoulders. Go right from laterals with dumbbells right into burning them out with bands. Keep your core tight and your back up straight, being sure not to lean or swing the weights. Aim for 10-12 reps with the dumbbells and then go to failure with the bands. Do a total of 3-4 sets.

Think about it Thursday. 💭Think about what you do and WHY you do it. Sometimes you have to stop doing what you read, what you “think” you need to do, what others do, comparing yourself to someone else, etc. Are you doing what you love, what YOU want? Are you trusting the process or trying to find a quick fix? I have found true balance in what I do. I train exactly how I want, do the cardio I want and eat what I want. I have spent years working on my body, accepting my strengths and my flaws. I have worked to build my metabolism through eating, not starving and building muscle through weight training. I have put time in day and day out for years in the gym. If you don’t find what works for you and what you enjoy, something is bound to backfire. Find your passion and follow it, results will come.

Smith machine variation of a split squat. Changing the way you do an exercise will hit different muscles, which is why change is so important. This move will also target your core. Be sure that your back is straight, core is tight and that your front knee does not go over your toes. Do three sets of 10-12 reps for each leg, increasing the weight each set. For added intensity superset this with a jump lunge.

Work your entire core and your balance doing this move on the exercise ball! Start with the bottom clip where you hold onto the side of the ball. Then after you master that, try the top clip where you do NOT hold on. Do a total of 3 sets for each side, aiming for 10-15 reps each time.
