Sunday, I went to the last screening at Landmark Sunshine. I left the theater after taking some pictures and there was nobody left inside to check that we had left the theater, only me and a few other people, with tears in our eyes. The screening was pretty packed. It has been less than 9 years that I have lived here, but it was one of my favorite places in the city, where I spent New Year's Eve and Christmas; it was a kind of home for me.
I used to go often to that theater even though it was one of the few theaters in New York for which I had no discount vouchers. I could have saved money and time watching the same movie somewhere else, but I always loved going to the Sunshine. I am already so sad, and this is also the last week of Lincoln Plaza.
At the end of the article, there is a picture of the awful building that will be built over the rubble of probably the most beautiful cinema in the city.
Where the fuck are all the A+ people this country is supposed to have? #sunshinecinema
