When this photograph was taken, our mom was 37 years old. She was finishing her master's degree in social work and had a full-time job. When she was home, she was at this desk, studying and writing papers in the basement of our house with her cat Tazz perched on her shoulder. All she ever wanted was for us to go to college or university and to have an easier life than she did.
When this photo was taken, we were 15 years old and in grade 10. Between classes and work, our mom drove us to school, piano lessons, raves and to our friend's houses. She studied with us, grounded us, counseled us. We didn't know then how much she sacrificed or juggled to make it all work, but, we understand it now. We are the same age this year that our mom was then and her devotion to education, politics, and feminism inspires us still.
This year for mother's day she donated 10,000 dollars to the @teganandsarafoundation to help us send LGBTQ kids to summer camp! Thank you, mom! If you’d also like to help us to send kids to camp please visit our fundraiser at smarturl.it/TSFCamp (link in bio). Today is a day to feel grateful for the ones who look out for us, who teach us, who love us unconditionally and inspire us with their love.
