TAKING PRIDE IN THE POSITIVE.

There are many moments where I tend to over analyze my progress. While I know in my heart that it's about self love, I'd be lying if I said that I don't care how my body looks. Because I do. I can look at pictures and be very critical. There are times where I feel like I'm back at square one again. But then I find gems like this. Where the difference is clear in my body. And it reminds me that I did change a lot from last year. It shows in the picture and in the videos I make. I am way fitter than I was last year and as you can see from this picture, I am leaner as well. In phase two, I have one clear goal by Christmas: rock my size 42 jeans comfortably. And I know that this time around, it's going to happen. Because I want it as bad as I want to breath! THE GYM SWEEPER WORKOUT!

During the powerlifting meet on Saturday, I was able to get to the hotel gym in the building and work on my push ups.
Then when I saw the hand towels, I just had to play around with those bad boys

WE CAN ALWAYS ADD FUN TO OUR WORKOUTS.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of coaching my good friend @melanie_mrc0906 in her third powerlifting meet. We have been working together for over a year now and every month, she just keeps getting better. When we first met, she was dealing with a lot of back issues and now here she is, hitting new pr's in her squat, bench and deadlift(250/145/335). Im very proud of how far she has come. She is one hell of a strong mom!! Always a fun time in the powerlifting world☺️. Happy Sunday my friend!! #teamwagon #bodypositive @theellenshow @edbyellen @therock @djkhaled

EVEN THE TINIEST OF CHANGES MEANS PROGRESS

I used to come from the thought process that if I didn't see crazy results, then there is no point in even trying.
This would put me into a life of extremes: either I go "beast mode" and kill myself for an extended period of time, or I go into "sleep mode" where I would be burnt out and use binging as a means to be my only comfort.

I worked really hard to find a balance the last year.

And I'm happy with the results.
I went down a t shirt size

I look tighter

Most importantly
I am not defining my progress by whether or not I go hard every day.

This is the most normal my habits have been in a long time.

Now in year two, my focus is shifting a little bit

So instead of going into overdrive,
I will just turn up the dial a bit and gently transition into a more focused state. Especially in these next 100 days.

One thing I learned recently has become the theme of year two for me
And it's this...... CONSISTENCY BEATS INTENSITY EVERY SINGLE TIME

And I know I can be consistent with building the following habits

50 push ups a day
No binging
Do some type of physical activity every morning before 9 am during the weekdays(push ups count)
Post something on IG daily(no matter how small it may seem)

Those habits will help me get to where I need to be

On my terms

And not by pushing myself into exhaustion.

So I decided to take @etthehiphoppreacher s 100 day challenge. Just to give myself a little swift kick in the booty. Here's my declaration for the next 100 days. I know I'll be able to achieve this goal with the help of my good friend @ehpfit . This Christmas, I'm giving myself the best gift I can think of: my old wardrobe☺️. HOW TO DO A BAD ASS PUSH UP

If you are a bigger person like me, you can understand how tough it can be to do a Push up. And even when you practice, the belly can get in the way sometimes.
Do not let let that discourage you from practicing your push ups cause these are a wonderful tool to help you build strength and look great!

Here's what I believe about movement at ANY SIZE:

WE MUST ALL DEVELOP GOOD HABITS WHEN LEARNING HOW TO EXERCISE.

This helps us to prevent injury and to get the most out of our training.

The push up is one of the things that people tend to screw up the most.

Flaring elbows/butt high/lack of full range of motion/hand in front of the shoulders, these are the biggest mistakes I see

In the bottom video, you can see that my body is in a straight line, my hands are under my shoulders, elbows are in, and I have full range of motion. PLUS I AM IN FULL CONTROL OF MY PUSH UP☺️ It's tough to do at first, but with practice and proper progression, you too can become a PUSH UP PIMP!! Did you like this tutorial on push ups? WORKING THE SINGLE LEG SQUAT

Over the past couple weeks, I have been trying to learn how to do a pistol squat. It's a lot of effort to do this and even moreso when you are a bigger guy. These have felt a lot smoother than the first time and I can't wait to get to the point where I can do this to a lower box

NON SCALE VICTORY IN THAT MY SIDE PROFILE LOOKS BETTER THAN IT DID A FEW MONTHS AGO.

I'm always very self conscious about the side so it's nice to see that this is the first time where I did not look at it negatively.

I'm still moving along my friend. And I'm glad that I'm slowly getting there.

This is non fitness related btw.

Just a little video I made at the @magnettheater training center before my first class show. About habits people have a tendency to do in #improv . I'm sure you have seen this plenty of times at @ucbtny @ciphasounds
I found it interesting.

But quick update: I'm doing pretty good since last week. The last weekend I went back to improv and it really helped me get out of my funk. Nutrition has been better, and training is back on track which in happy about

I mentioned how improv helped fill a hole in my life, and I realized just how much it was helping me towards my goals when I stopped for a couple of weeks.

We all need something to help us bring out our focus and positivity
And improv definitely helps me with that.

I haven't worked out since last wednesday

And I couldn't take being lazy and in a funk anymore
So I had to do something to break out of my funk

I would say that doing wallballs and burpees at a suicide pace would do the trick

Breaking out of a rut is always tough. And that's why it's requires me to go do something to break that inertia .

Good thing is that this week has been better than last week☺️ This video is basically a tutorial on how to beat hump day👊

While last week was a low energy week, I was happy to get out and do some stuff today. I went to church with my buddies today and just by pure coincidence, I ran into a friend I met thru Instagram, @starock_health_and_wellness . It was great getting to finally meet you in real life today pete! We most definitely need to workout together sometime when are schedules line up.
I truly love how much we all can connect thru social media. Because it helps us create more connection with more people. Just meeting pete who is an awesome dude is a sign that this is going to be a great week! #teamwagon #bodypositive @theellenshow @edbyellen @therock @djkhaled
