What's something in nature that you will never forget seeing? I will never forget the gorgeous #Santorini sunsets and the full moon rising immediately after. It's really something when you get to see a sunset on one side of the island and then look on the opposite side to see the moon rising.

Are any animals honored or symbolic in your country? In my country the bald eagle is symbolic of freedom, but it was chosen as the national emblem because it was believed to exist only in the USA. It was also chosen due to having a long lifespan, for being majestic and having great strength. In the US, each state has a state bird. The Illinois state bird is the cardinal.
Greek Culture Day 3
I don't know about other Greek Islands, but here on Santorini the donkey is honored because without the donkeys, the island couldn't have been built. Donkeys have the opposite value in my culture; they are considered dumb animals. Another word to refer to them is ass, also a vulgar word in English, meaning buttocks (not vulgar), but not vulgar when referring to donkeys. I think the phrase, "Don't be an ass!" (vulgar) originates from the donkey, meaning: don't be or act stupid, but I don't know the history to back up that assumption. I'm just inferring based on my background knowledge. @flyedelweiss

What food from your culture should I try?

Greek Culture Day 2

Pita bread, tzatziki, souvlaki, oh my!
Greeks use Greek yogurt to make dips and dressing (the white sauce is tzatziki). Pita bread (top) is served with dip and meat). Souvlaki is the grilled chicken on the bottom.

Gyros are common in the US, but not as common on the menus here as souvlaki, which is served on a skewer.

Write about your culture or a superstition in your culture that you think others would like to know about. Tag (invite) a friend to play, too.
Culture, customs and tradition vary in every country, and sometimes they vary from city to city or town to town.
Let's look at some of the Greek culture here.
Day 1
The evil eye (Mati) is something you can find all over Greece in different forms (jewelry, pendants, key rings, etc.). My basic understanding is that it wards off evil or bad luck. However upon more research it is said that this eye has been around since Ancient Greek times. Some people are more superstitious about it than others, but legend has it that when someone gives you the evil eye (a mean glare) full of negative emotion, it can cause bad luck. By wearing the evil eye you keep evil away. It is typically a blue color because it was thought that those with blue or green eyes had more negativity and therefore caused more pain to others than people with darker eyes.
This type of belief is a superstition. A superstition is when you think certain events will cause good or bad luck.

Use the past tense and tell me what you did for fun recently. See if there are any new words you learned in this post or video and try to use them in your answer.
I visited another side of the island today. Lots of uphill and downhill walking. It's a hot day and the UV (ultraviolet) rays are on full blast (super high). Today I went in and out of shops and bought a necklace.

Was feeling a little jet lagged yesterday and this morning, but I slept really well last night after two nights of little sleep. Woohoo!! I decided to do a little vlog for you guys so we can stay in touch while I am here. I'll be thinking of any vocabulary I can to share with you all. Today, notice the words jet lag and the phrasal verb to catch up. See if you can use them in a sentence.
