We finally finished our fun little snow project today. I got this idea from @bunting_books_bright_ideas many years ago.
We used the book Dream Snow by Eric Carle. The kids always love this activity and it's such a good "using clues" activity...and we always do it the first few days we're back, gets them back into the groove.

Today my students learned how to do Word Art.
We practiced with some spelling words and then they also did some character traits.
I had them download the image add PNG and then upload it to their Google drive and "share" it with me. They love it! Do you use Word Art? What kinds of activities do you do with it?

One of my friends posted this quote, which I actually don't buy myself books anymore... I'm a library girl anymore, or if I do buy books I buy them for like 50Β’ at the library or garage sales and then donate them, mostly because of the storing them "problem"....but that doesn't include my classroom books. Lol
Swipe to see my library, which might be my favorite thing in my classroom!

Today's book was Martin's Big Words. Such a great story to convey MLK's message. We did the "egg experiment" from @littlekinderwarriors and the kids loved it!

One of the books we read this week was from one of my favorite authors, Jan Brett. The kids know as soon as they see the cover of her book, it's going to be a good one!
We talked about character traits, and how characters respond to problems in the story. Such a great book!! @janbrettauthor

We are on day 90- getting geared up for 100th day! What day are you on?
(Ten frames pack on TPT- link in bio)

With a new year comes new resolutions!
We did a quick write on one school- related resolution they have and what they could do to achieve that goal. (This quick write is included in my winter writing pack. Link in bio)

I saw this trick from @saddleupfor2ndgrade - it's such a great visual! I did it with my kids today and they were like..."ohhhhh!" Lol I mean, we've done hopping for a while, but putting the place value blocks in the hops really helped them with it.

We go back tomorrow...it's been a GREAT break. While we haven't gone on a trip or anything, we have done a lot with the girls and our friends.
But I'm ready to see my little kiddos' sweet faces tomorrow! We'll be doing just a few days of Snow themed activities...click the link in my bio to see some ideas we'll be doing.

I have a reading buddy today 🦎 Lol

Family reading time- is my favorite time of day.
My oldest still doesn't like to read, but she will, and we keep trying to find books/series to hook her. She's currently "kind of" enjoying (her words) Bad Guys. Any other series for a 3rd grader you would recommend?? Easy reads, but still chapter books (not Treehouse or Junie... we've already tried those)

I started this book a few months ago...got halfway through it and then life got crazy, but I finally finished dit! Haha. It's pretty good! (Despite the length it took me to read it lol)
