About 700kms away from home, I found this man talking to me in all #languages he had up his sleeves. Wanting to live outside the hustle bustle of #jodhpur, I booked a nice #mud hut for myself in a village nearby, Salawan. His #stories like this #mustache; proud and full of twists and turns. His words; cozy like my grandmother's lap. His #family became my #friends and are a part of my #Facebook friend list and #whatsapp list now. For once, I did not want to share what I was there for; all I wanted to learn is what drives them, what their stories and colors are and how they make #Rajasthan the most hospitable state in India. Keeping up with their traditions, they cook basic food and #spicy chutnies.
They introduced me to the bishnoi #community who are the guardians of the flora and fauna in the villages and were the leaders in the chipko movement back in 1973. We spotted blackbucks and beautiful birds around the village, spotted many mustache-men with #colorful #turbans and roamed about in a #jeep. ..
As a partying gift the daughter in law of the family, handed over a jar of some of the lip smacking chilly garlic paste that I ate with my Punjabi food back at home. Makes me reminisce my time in the desert. #inthailand #livethere
