We all seem to like to blame and point fingers when things don't go our way. We blame the people next to us, our friends, parents, our past, our competitors, haters/ doubters, pet hamster, our present circumstances, our lack or too much of, or even the government. My point is, we all have the power to change and make tomorrow better, IF we all come together.
Singapore clearly has one of the best infrastructures for world class sport events. But this all don't matter if our own people don't give a damn. It is already very hard to get support or recognition from governing officials or potential sponsors, but one thing we can do within our power is to show support for our own athletes. 🥊
I am doing my part, as a Singaporean athlete, this 29 September 2018 when I fight for a boxing world title. Yes, after 13 years in the sport, I know I still have to prove myself. But do know that this is not just for boxing, but for Singapore sports in general. The future of Singapore sports for our children or the next generation depends on what we do now. 🥊
On 29 September, let's come together at Marina Bay Sands for Singapore boxing and to show the world that we Singaporeans are not backing down from a fight. Let's prove to ourselves that we can put aside our differences, unite and show what the Singapore fighting spirit is all about. Don't just sit and watch Singapore sports die.
This is more than just supporting one person, me. This is to support the growth of Singapore sport and a huge step to reigniting the fire to support our local athletes, like we truly mean it.
Do we really not have the sport culture anymore? I refuse to believe this because I have felt and witnessed so much emotion, heart and passion when people come to see me fight, win, lose or draw. 🥊
We are a tiny red dot on the world map, weirdly famous for worldly materialistic things. But now, it is time to show our desire, will and heart.
