#IAmMyHair 🤘🏾 As a Dominican growing up I was so confused because of my hair...
My mom alwaysss wanted me to have straight hair. AKA what she would call "good hair". She would tell me my hair was ugly and messy as fuk. That I looked raggedy, so I started perming/relaxing my hair straight when I was just 10 years old. I hated it! It burned my fucking scalp! This muthafuka had me doing super perms. 😓 For a long time I felt like I wasn't good enough for her...I didn't understand why she wanted to change me. Why did she want me to look different? That hurt me so much, I started hating myself and I blamed her for it.
As I get older,
I'm starting to see a lot her in me.
Although dat shit scares the FUCK outta me! I'm starting to understand why she would do the things she did.
She felt the same way about herself. -🆎
