All I can say is thank you to @xsamanthajean and @laurenmazzotta for indulging me with my silly idea one year ago to create a blog, for their amazing perspectives, ideas, and everlasting support. Happy one year blogiversary to @silverliningssociety!

Rainy day reads. β›ˆ

My mom started reading #HarryPotter to me at age 6. I saw the first movie with my best friend at age 8, and we went to Barnes and Noble at midnight together for the last two book releases starting at age 12. I finished the final book at age 14 and saw the final movie at age 20.

I can honestly say I don't know who I would be if I hadn't grown up with this series. Thank you, J.K. Rowling for teaching me about love, loss, and sacrifice; good, evil, and the grey space in-between; the power of privilege and community in shaping someone's life; and that ladies can be the smartest, badass b's. Thank you for opening up the eyes of an entire generation to something bigger than themselves.

I can't imagine my life without Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Neville, Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Lupin, Tonks, Fred, George, Molly, Arthur, Dudley, Lilly, Snape... and so many more.

This is why I can't have nice things. But really, the world (with plenty of help from Pretzel) has been sending me a lot of hints about the concept of aparigraha, meaning non-attachment - the last of the five Yamas in yogic philosophy. Non-attachment can relate to a lot of things, big and small. Some of the small reminders of the practice for me lately have been sad, bitten plants and a broken mala. We'll be playing with this theme in class this week!

Join me in class this week! I (obviously) binged @oitnb and have been working with a theme offered by Suzanne - that the sky is always blue, even when all we can see is clouds ☁️, the sky remains blue above it all.

Like the sky, peace is always within us. Sometimes it shines brightly, and sometimes it gets obscured by the emotions and experiences of our lives. Even when we feel completely caught up in the storm of life, peace remains within us - beneath it all.

So excited that I'll be teaching twice a week starting in mid-June at @sanghastudio! This is the first studio where I truly felt free and comfortable to take class in a community that supported me, and is where I proudly completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training last month. πŸ“Ώ

As Vermont's only nonprofit, donation-based yoga studio, Sangha is truly an amazing space, and I'm so pleased that I get to work with a studio so focused on accessibility and community. πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Join me twice a week starting June 21st on Wednesdays from 7-8am for Move & Meditate + Fridays from 5:15-6:30pm for SPA Yoga. (SPA is basically a slower, feel-good flow class with a bunch of massage-y assists and chocolate!) πŸ€™πŸ»

This sweet baby angel was the best gift I could have gotten during a really tough time of loss in my life. Losing a beloved pet unexpectedly caused me intense feelings of loneliness, helplessness, and guilt. .
This little ray of light (+ teeth, claws, and fur) entered @forrest.brandt's and my life when we were beginning to feel a state of acceptance with the death of our close friend, but I was still struggling deeply with a sense of loneliness, loss, and grief.

Pretzel is the kiddo I needed to uplift my spirits and bring pet love and care taking into my life again. She's a hilarious baby who both cuddles for hours and attacks my face. She reminds me deeply of my lost friend while, at the same time, being her unique self. 🐯
.
I feel extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to welcome her into our home, and can't thank @pascucciyoga and @acarace enough for trusting us with their lil' crazy angel. ❀️

I've be feeling really unfocused and unbalanced this week. So I turned to my meditation practice, and let it be what it was today... which turned out to be wiggly toes and cat cuddles, which was perfect. πŸ’•
