I like doing traditional deadlifts for two reasons.
-
1. I think it's more sports specific. Unless you're training for a powerlifting meet there's no reason to lift sumo deadlift style. You'll never be in that type of position in real life or in any sport.
2. You move the bar further which creates more muscular hypertrophy. Range of motion is very important when it comes to growing your muscles. Sumo deadlifts just cut the range of motion (hence why you can lift more). The farther the range of motion the better. It's harder but usually things that are better for you are 😊

Yes it's true I preach you can have flexibility and still look great. But the more extreme the look the more extreme the measures.

If you wanna look like this it's gonna hurt and you have to suck it the f*** up. Otherwise make excuses and shut up. Can't have it both ways.

Consistency is the biggest determining factor on if you succeed with a plan or fail.

One thing I like to do, is have go to foods that I don't mind eating on a consistent basis and ALWAYS fit well into my macro numbers (whether I'm cutting or bulking).

For breakfast my carb source is usually oats w/ cinnamon, milk, and a couple splenda packets for taste. Protein and fat wise, I do a mix of whole eggs/egg whites & I'll add in some peppers, spinach, and/or hot sauce if I want it to be less boring.

Diet is KING πŸ‘‘ when it comes to your results. Fail to be consistent on the diet, then plan to have inconsistent results.

Eating chips when no one is looking still counts. That's what I love about fitness. How you look is a culmination of everything you do. You can't cheat the process πŸ™πŸ»

I remember I started lifting at a young so that people would stop making fun of me and I'd "get the girls." (Bodybuilding actually makes you get more male attention πŸ˜‚) I grew up with 2 older sisters that made me kinda soft lol and I was a string bean.

Now I know it's much deeper then that.

Diet your ass off for 16 weeks. Show every damn serratus muscle in your body. Push beyond exhaustion...THEN you'll know you can do ANYTHING. Then you'll see it's mind over matter.

It's not the physical change that matters. Having abs isn't that cool honestly. It's the journey to getting the abs that translates into every other part of life.

I took 4 months (wish I kept the before picture) and cut down from 225 lbs to 178 lbs (all natural for you people who care but shouldn't πŸ‘ŒπŸ»).

I didn't break my diet once. No cheat meals, no excuses, no mess ups.

It was hard and honestly looking at this pic I was WAY to lean BUT it shows that with a proper plan you can lose weight.

You aren't a special case or a different person who can't lose weight. It usually is you can't be consistent for any period of time. I took 4 months to get to 5% body fat and I started prolly at 15-18%...

I literally hurt my back today so this is ironic (poor form on high reps so my fault) BUT typically deadlifts are the BEST thing for lower back strength.
-
Most lower back exercises are isolation movements (straight arm pulldowns, hyper extensions). You just can't do that much weight, so when you squat, bench, or deadlift it usually gives out, or you injure yourself because it's just not that strong.

With proper form, deadlifts will make your lower back the strongest AND you can do the most weight. This translates well into other heavy compound movements.

If you're constantly having lower back problems and not an "older" lifter.(OLDER...whatever age you deem falls into that. I know some people are sensitive about age). I would highly suggest deadlifts at least twice a week. It is crucial to build up that core strength, and translates over to any other compound movements you might do.

Show me someone with lots of back problems and usually I'll show you someone who doesn't deadlift often (or properly at least).
