Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Should you see this movie with a teen? No, it'll confuse the hell out of them. Honestly, this story doesn't make sense. The ending plays out like this big reveal, like it's so obvious this had to happen, but that's not at all what I felt. It tries to be deep, it wants to be righteous, but the main group of girls are such typical bitches that you don't really care what happens to them. I think if you gave anybody the same day over and over they would do what they had to in order to move on with their week and survive. This is just lazy. I made the mistake of thinking the trailer looked interesting enough to be a good read, so I suffered the plot of the book just to find out why it was all freaking happening. Unsatisfactory conclusion. The movie is the same story. The actors save the film. At least the story made room for a predominantly female cast; it's just a shame they were wasted on this one.
Shining Star: Zoey Deutch is just about the only good thing this movie has going for it.
