🥑 Now, I am not a vegan, but I do believe it is possible to live an extremely healthy lifestyle while on a vegan diet. ⠀

In fact, research has shown that a vegan diet can decrease rates of obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancer, and heart disease! 💪🏼⠀

As long as you carefully plan and remember to focus on nutrients you may be missing from animal-based foods, you can get all the nutrition you need from a vegan diet.🥕⠀

Here are some nutrients you may want to be aware of:⠀

💪🏼 Protein: Majority of plants are not complete proteins, meaning the don’t contain all essential amino acids. However, by incorporating different protein-rich foods throughout the day, you’ll get your needs in! Chickpeas, kidney beans, nuts, seeds, hemp, and tofu are all great examples!⠀

🍃 Iron: Plants have non-heme iron, which is harder to absorb than heme iron in animals. Be sure to have iron-rich plants with a source of vitamin C to increase absorption! For example, chickpeas and red peppers in a salad. ⠀

🤯 Vitamin B12: It is found mainly in animal products but is super important for our blood cells and brain health. Some fortified beverages like soy or almond milk may have a bit, but you may need to supplement. Always talk to your doctor or dietitian first before taking a B12 supplement to make sure it’s right for you!⠀

🐠 Omega-3: While many plants have the omega-3 called ALA, they don’t have EPA or DHA which are important for heart, brain, and skin health. Eating rich sources of ALA (e.g., flaxseed, walnuts) help convert ALA to the other two in small amounts but you may want to consider a supplement (you can get it from algae!)⠀

🥦 With some careful planning, your diet can be healthy and satisfying! Whether you are vegan or not, incorporating more plant-based foods into our diet is always a great way to improve our overall health! ⠀

I LOVE Oath Pizza's crust. It's almost akin to scallion pancakes... Or something resembling a Taiwanese breakfast. This one is the Luau pizza. I originally wanted to get the loaded baked potato one from a while ago but didn't pay attention to the menu 😢 (the potato on is so so so yummy)
