Hello and thank you to everyone who has kindly chosen to follow my Instagram account in the past few days. Thanks to @cherrybombemag reposting my Dorie Greenspan dessert from my last post, I've experienced a sudden influx of delightful foodies, which is both exciting and overwhelming.
Welcome to a piece of my life. Be forewarned, my captions are long. I give basic details of what's pictured at the top of my post so that you don't have to slog through my "monologue", as one of my Instagram friends calls it. I write the captions to amuse myself mostly, but do hope that it may prove to be a fun 10 seconds of your day, a little mental break.
When my old, beloved Blackberry fell into an impecably clean public toilet in 2016, after falling out of my purse, I was forced to buy an Android, which eventually lead to my troglodyte self discovering Instagram. I'm introverted and need downtime to recuperate from my spastic bouts with extrovert-ing, which should explain why I'm almost a hermit. Balancing my misanthropic nature with my compassion for humanity is a confusing conflict I'm sure you can relate to. My neighbours think I'm either out of the country or a figment of their imagination. Both of which are sometimes true.
I'm a home cook, I own about 400 cookbooks, a paltry sum compared to other foodies I've met in life. I've been cooking and baking up a hurricane for 20 plus years, mostly after fighting rush hour traffic, after a long day of work. Sound familiar? What I post on instagram isn't "instant". The images are meant to tell you a story about the ingredients and hopefully provide inspiration.
