Hundreds of thousands of kids are drinking codeine cough syrup in Nigeria. BBC Africa Eye went undercover to investigate how they get it easily. #youthmattersng #silverliningng #substanceabuse #mentalhealthawareness

@slni_nigeria team went back to school for our second session for 2018, this time with a group of SS1 student discussing sexual health, substance abuse and mental health. When asked when you hear mental health what do you think? The students shouted out MADNESS!!! A student defined mental health as the sanity of someone to produce good things. We need to continue to raise awareness on issues that affect young minds and help them be better prepared for the challenges of adult hood. #silverliningng #mentalhealthawareness #substanceabuseawareness #sexualhealthtalks #unicef #rotaryinternational #youthmattersng #youngminds

Today is #worldsuicudepreventiondaysept10 Every year, more than 800,000 people die by suicide and up to 25 times as many make a suicide attempt. Behind these statistics are the individual stories of those who have, for many different reasons, questioned the value of their own lives. Each one of these individuals is part of a community. Some may be well linked in to this community, and have a network of family, friends and work colleagues or school mates. Others may be less well connected, and some may be quite isolated. Regardless of the circumstances, communities have an important role to play in supporting those who are vulnerable.

This sentiment is reflected in the theme of the 2017 World Suicide Prevention Day: ‘Take a minute, change a life.’ As members of communities, it is our responsibility to look out for those who may be struggling, check in with them, and encourage them to tell their story in their own way and at their own pace. Offering a gentle word of support and listening in a non-judgemental way can make all the difference.

Millennium Park Abuja Children's Day 2017 outing today in Partnership with OPP (Opportunity for Positive Productivity) an organization that houses Children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. It is always a lovely experience for people to get out of their environment and experience another world. We took the children and their caregivers to Millennium Park, Abuja for the day. There was lots of games, dancing, face painting, health education exercises for their caregivers, mosquito nets distribution, Vitamin A and Deworming for under5. It will not have been a party without candy, ice cream, a cake, snacks and lunch provided for both children and adults. #silverliningng #youthmattersng #betterlife #hivpositive #orphans #OPP #volunteersrock
