Friends, I always wanted to own a business and I'm launching mine RIGHT NOW!
Four months ago I did something I never imagined I would’ve done. I booked a monthlong trip to Cuba to see if I really can go after a wild dream. —
Now, let’s get the full story of this trip. It’s about creating something when opportunities didn’t seem to pan out. It all started last summer when I was in Mexico. I found this gorgeous town called Tepoztlán and I deeply desired to live there for a month and create music. I made up my mind to apply to international music residencies which would boost my career and give me confidence and validation. —
I’m a hustler, baby, but I don’t know the last time I’ve worked that hard. I hired help. Friends and family helped. I worked my ass off from October-March. Literally - it fell off and I had to retrieve it and screw it back on. ---
I got rejected from ALL of them. The organizations took established global artists, so I wasn’t TOO upset. However, I was really let down that this was not available to me. So, I decided to make my own residency. —
I'd had Cuba on the back of my mind. I LOVE their music and it's a special time in history to go. I’ll be in Havana in August living with a Cuban family. I’m taking daily lessons with master musicians and I’ll set up a home art and music studio. I’ll collaborate with Cuban hip hop artists and producers and participate in a recording and documentary film. I’m also going to ride horses in the countryside of Viñales, visit tobacco farms, chill out in little towns, and relax on the beach. —
I’m honoring this gift to myself. I’ve made the most positive changes in my life in the past nine months, which came about when I felt I was going in circles and I didn’t know how to break through. I sought out a mentor and invested in private coaching. It has made all the difference. ---
With this, I am excited to announce that I am expanding my studio of private music lessons and am publicly offering my one-on-one creative mentorship program for the first time. --- Scroll down for more about the program!
