1 Kings 1:10; ESV “But he did not invite Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the might men or Solomon his brother.”
What I love about this passage of scripture is that it places emphasis on who he DID NOT invite. Previous to this verse we see that Adonijah desired to be king even though the throne was not destined to be his. I think it is funny that Adonijah sought a position that was not his and because of this he was selective in who he DID NOT invite into his inner world.
I think that the same can be true for us today, that we can be seeking or pursuing something that is not ours, or something that isn’t meant for us and to justify our pursuit we DO NOT allow certain people into our presence. It could be because they challenge us, disagree with us or even think differently to us.
There is something important as a leader, which everyone is in some capacity, that we make sure we are not LEAVING OUT people who may be a vital part in helping us reach our potential. Tonight take inventory of who you have NOT INVITED into your world - because it is God placed potential that may be at risk if you have left out the wrong people.
