I haven't been good at life-ing this week and I've let half my plants die through forgetfulness, but things are moving forward again - even if only from the comfort of my bed! Lots of people have been expressing how down this time of year makes them feel. If you're struggling with Winter blues or a bluer blue of depression, there are things you can do to still be productive from your comfort spot. N.B: I'm not preaching, just offering advice based on personal experience 😊
1. Light! ⚡
Letting light into a room will immediately lift your mood and make you feel a little more awake. Whether it's opening the curtains/switching on lamps/lighting candles, every little bit of light helps.
2. Hydration 🌊
Try staying hydrated, as dehydration leads to tiredness, forgetfulness and general grogginess. Sometimes we don't feel like eating or drinking when we're down, and if you're troubled with an E.D it can be especially hard staying hydrated - water is calorie free! Fruit is also a great way of rehydrating if you can manage to munch.
3. Listen 👂
Listening to music, the radio or podcasts can automatically lift your mood. It also gently stimulates your mind with minimal effort. If you're lacking energy and concentration, this is a great way of keeping your mind active and focused.
4. Talking 👄
Ring a friend or speak out loud. The physical act of speaking out loud can help declutter your mind and regain control over a situation.
5. Fresh air 🍃
Even if it's a bit chilly outside, open the window! A stuffy room is not any help in getting out of your head. If you can manage to drag yourself from your bed covers and slip on some shoes, a walk outside does wonders.
6. Work through it 👨💻👩💻
On a bad day I often go through all my emails, read something career-related or do something creative - all from my bed! At first it may seem like a struggle, but just take it a small step at a time.
7. You are not alone 👣
I promise you there are many others who are feeling the same, doing the same, struggling the same - people message me daily with their worries! Being unable to get out of bed does not mean you're failing and it doesn't mean you can't be productive. YOU GOT THIS 💪
