First I have to say that I am a huge Guardians fan and watched #GuardiansoftheGalaxy2 ..3 times in like 1 week haha! After the 3rd time which was the day before I was to attend @HoustonComicpalooza, I knew I had to make it. I just had to! I had another cosplay in mind to wear and scratched it in order to make my #YonduPoppins. That part and that ending just touched me and I needed to immortalize that one epic scene everyone loves so much.
If you look at my other cosplays, I am a bit of a quirky character myself. I like making things others have not made. Twists of my own here and there. I am an artist, actress and just all around here to entertain and put smiles on peoples faces 🙂 Just like The #GuardiansoftheGalaxy series has done for me. I only wore it just this past weekend after making it in half a day.
I was on a tight budget and went to thrift stores for the burgundy belts and buckles etc, fabric stores with my coupons for the bits of leather and fabric, and made my fin out of craft foam. There was no pattern for it. I had to do it free hand.
I have no sewing machine, I don't use 3D printing. Everything I do is sewn and made literally by hand from scratch. I think I do way better when I make last minute cosplays then when I put much thought into it lol. I had a great make up artist Joseph Delgado, spray paint my face and add some scars and help attach my fin to the bald cap which he did brilliantly! People slowly watched me transform into Yondu and freaked out once I was done. I really had no idea the response would be as massive as it has been! People hugged me, smiled ecstatically and laughed. But I did have a few one in particular who cried when they saw me. I won't say spoilers, but anyone who saw the movie understands why. I mean they literally cried!
I was missing my gloves and or blue paint on my hands in the photos but I ripped one glove and then forgot about adding the blue. But next time I will be more put together when I go to my next con as #YonduMaryPoppins! --- @cinsartistry
