Late night writing - early morning yoga kinda day... The more I practice, the more contained my postures become. I practice to heal myself and not to make shapes with my body. I enjoy observing myself even when there is not that much going on 🙏

I chose to go a bit more in to the technique of the physical practice in this post. I unpacked four confusing alignment cues for the postures: Triangle (Trikonasana), Chair (Utkatasana), Standing forward fold (Utanasana) and Cobra (Bhujangasana). Came across this capture of one of my first crows. Knees should be higher up the triceps , toes should point up and my core should be more engaged. But I love it for it's imperfections ❤️🙏 And also because it reminds me that soon comes summer time and I'll be back to running around doing hand stands on the beach!

To deepen your twist's practice, try to dig your elbow as low as possible down the opposite thigh. You can even lift your sitting bones of the mat, reach deeper with your elbow and then sit back down. In that way, you will chalenge your body to try and lengthen from a very restricted position; thus more muscles will work in order to help you grow tall and than twist. It is much harder then just starting with the elbow high, close to the knee!
I demonstrate this active way of twisting in a seated twist, ardha matyandra asana, but relevant to other seated twists like marichyasana 3, or even standing twists such as twisted chair or twisted lounge. Try this out and see how your twist starts to be much more challenging and no longer feel like a resting pose.🙏❤️ I intend to discuss this little trick, and many others, in my next upcoming blog and also In my video tutorials which are coming soon! 😮Stay tuned and follow me 🙏❤️

I took this photo in Tasmaina, it was an absolutely wonderful moment of silence.
It was a moment there was nothing but me, the ocean and the fresh sea air!
Today I'm tired, the weekend was great but busy, I woke up on this Monday morning feeling uncoordinated, unorganised and gross!
I have quite an important appointment tommorrow, I think I'm feeling it. It's making me exhausted.
It's no big deal, (well to me it is) and everything is all good, however a beach view and the sand beneath my feet would go down a treat right now.
Instead I'll perhaps jump into bed...

One of the Niyamas in yoga script is Saucha meaning cleanliness. 💆
If we turn up to our yoga mat or to the gym with impurities both mentally and pysically then our practice/workout becomes alot harder. We find ourselves having to sift through the 'impurities' or negativity we've picked up before reaping the true benifits of our yoga session or workout!
IN CLASS - don't clutter space in the room that impacts your zen or the zen of others.
AT HOME - Don't hoard sruff you don't need. Clear the clutter, be tidy.
YOUR MIND - 'where the attention goes, energy flows' - an impure thought i.e. judging others or yourself only brings about stress.
YOUR FOOD - 'you are what you eat'! Eat clean, organic, fresh.
