if I’m being honest, backbends are the poses I struggle with the most, and always find myself avoiding. i’m very physically active, always running or trying a new form of exercise, weights, you name it. so my body is strong, but not very flexible, especially in my shoulders and hips. this picture, wheel pose, has taken me a long time of practice and repetition to get to the point where I enjoy the stretch and release of the pose. not to mention, when I finally learned the correct alignment and tips behind a solid backbend, I was really able to open up and find a deeper sense of release. it’s like realizing all this time you’ve been breathing shallow breaths and you finally take a deep and full breath ☺️ I want to share my tips and tricks with you so you can feel that release and feel more comfortable and open in your backbends! join @karinmariayoga and I in our backbend workshop TOMORROW and experience a deeper release 👍🏼 together we’ll lead you through a 60 min flow to warm up our bodies, share our tips for 3 of our favorite backbends, and end with a super relaxing guided meditation. beginners are welcome! today’s the last day to sign up...link in bio🤸🏼‍♀️👆🏼

i've been looking for a new kind of workout to do at home and finally jumped on the #bbg bandwagon. first few days with the app and i really like it! can't walk very well after leg day, but as someone who's been an athlete all my life, I know that means it's targeting muscles I haven't used in awhile. my bodies trying to remember how to use those muscles. patience and consistency. but right now just getting up off my couch to grab something to eat has me ooing and aweing 🤕👵🏻which is why this weeks video couldn't have come at a better time. floor yoga. yep, exactly as it sounds. if you're sore like me from a workout or maybe you're just tired from a long workday and don't feel like doing much of anything, join me for this quick 20 min sequence that keeps us lo' to the flo' and doesn't require much energy 👍🏼your body with thank you after...mine did (link in bio) 😍💃🏼or if you're in #sf come practice with me tonight at @yogamayusf at 8:15 PM 🤸🏼‍♀️(👈🏼we won't actually be doing this, not that kinda class 💁🏼)hope your having a great night and I'll see you on the mat! sunday vibes be like...😌😴taking a moment to pause and breath. sometimes I get anxious and stressed wishing I was farther along in my dreams and goals, I feel impatient or lose hope thinking maybe I've dreamt too big this time. in those moments I try and focus on gratitude instead. today I'm grateful for my health, my supportive husband and family, the food in my kitchen, the roof over my head. i'm grateful for my quirks, and the things that make me, me. i'm grateful for the plants that fill our home and bring me so much joy, and the foggy sf weather that reminds me to rest. i'm grateful for what I have and who I am in this moment and I'll keep working to grow and learn, one breath at a time #taybybay #gratitude #yoga #noevalley #sf #namaste #thisisyoga

Been teaching Bird of Paradise in my Power Flow classes during the last two weeks. I love how this asana teaches us balance as an act of learning to hold on while letting go. This morning's class felt very special as it was my 100th class at Yoga Mayu. This practice has taught me so much but my students teach me even more. So grateful for you all. 🙏🏼
