I am not a runner but I do run and I love the feel when I am in the depth of it. Some people are just born with a heart and a soul that lift up their mind and body; and with two feet that could make them fly. Running is in their blood. They are who I call "runners". i am a practicing yogi for around two decades now and still a struggling one - trying to live out yoga in my daily life. I always thought yoga helps my running. I run for a myriad of reasons: it helps me clear my mind and makes me feel good. I run when I am preparing for a challenging hike or climb. I run because a few people in my life are runners and they inspire me tremendously. Lately, I have been running almost everyday. I do my yoga practice in the morning and run in the evening (early). I am not sure how I ended up doing both but I keep finding my balance in doing so. When work during the rest of the day gets the better of me, when life challenges and work deadlines take out the energy in me, I find my focusing, fueling, grounding and releasing in yoga and running. I get reminded that the best things in life are -- laughter, smiles, sleep, hugs, love, friends, loved ones, family. Its Monday, the beginning of another busy week ahead and I'll be traveling mid day. I am starting my day with yoga (and hoping I'll be able to end my day with a good early evening run in another city). Happy Monday and a good week ahead to all!
