This asana is called dancer. I though about not even posting it because, welp, it’s my weaker side and I wanted to judge myself. I was thinking it wasn’t “good” enough. But what is “good enough” if meeting myself where I am today isn’t good enough. Seriously, who even gets to decide what’s “good” in yoga? When I start to judge myself (self worth) based on a how a yoga pose looks I need to step back and reevaluate what is important. We all have different expressions and are at different places in our journeys. In life and in yoga. Sometimes I need a reminder that yoga isn’t about nailing a pose or having the biggest back bend. It’s about the journey and how you approach every minute along the way. It can be both rewarding and eye opening to be gentle with yourself as you grow. Me, I’m going to give myself some slack because hey, this is still a beautiful pose and it’s me. There’s only one me and that alone is something to be grateful for. I honestly e everyone is having a great Tuesday🧘🏼‍♀️

To empty your cup means to release your conditioned “story” of how you think you, people, society and life “should” be.
We may say and think that we are “open minded” however, not many people are really 100% open minded. We all have deeply ingrained perspectives, predisposed judgements and limitations that we create on how we view ourselves, others and life in general.
Our perspectives were conditioned and formed by our parents, society, the media, our friends, etc. These perspectives are so deeply ingrained in our neurological patterns of thought that we may not even be aware of them.
In order to truly grow, to find that true happinesses within, without searching for it through the never ending cyclical need for validation, success, etc, we must empty our cup and have an open mind. We have to let go of what we think “our story” is. And realize that just because we may think a certain way, doesn’t mean that that’s the organic truth.
Practice becoming aware of your thoughts and your conditioned perspectives through activities such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation so that you may #freeyourmind, empty your cup and allow truth to settle in. 🙏🏻🤯

Tadasana
Taking yoga off the mat.

Sometimes we just can't help it. Our asana practice just spills over in to our everyday routines.
So often when standing in line at the grocery store, waiting for our water bottles to fill up, brushing our teeth morning and night, or really anything in our daily routines that find us standing in one spot for any length of time, we find ourselves checking in.
How is our posture?
And guess what happens? Yup, we are often standing in Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
Spreading our toes wide, grounding and rooting into the earth below!! Of course we are not always perfect but taking these opportunities to just check in can really shift your day. Bringing you present, helping you feel more grounded and supported, building strength and over all heath with your posture.

Of course there are many asana poses you can bring off the mat and into your every day routine to give your body a little bit of a reward, and bring you in the moments. A beautiful twist when working at a desk all day or hunched over for a long time.
Any kind of forward fold will help to calm the nervous system if you are feeling overwhelmed, or in need of something to help you refocus. Forward folds can also be great to help relieve low back pressure and stretch out your legs.
Legs up the wall can be a great reward at the end of the day if you have a job that you tend to be on your feet for most of the day.

Ending your day with a gentle knee hug and/or child's pose before bed may be just what you need to have a restful sleep.

So although we love to practice asana on our mats, taking those hidden moments throughout the day to check in may just change your whole practice all together. Yoga isn't just about the practice often talked about on the mat. Yoga is a way of life.

Yoga with my personal trainer today!
She is a very strikt trainer and if you don't do as she says she bite your fingers 😂
Today we worked with strength in arms, hands and fingers. I was supposed to try taking her toy mouse from her, but if I managed and kept the mouse in my hands she'd bite my fingers. So if I actually won I had to throw it away quickly 😂
I think my personal trainer is a little strange...

It’s only in the last few months I’ve started to physicalize my practice again. For years, I was busy tinkering internally. Sitting quietly in meditation, shifting worlds within, there wasn’t much to see from the outside. Most describe my approach as “subtle”, a nice way of saying “we have no idea what you’re doing”. It’s okay. I no longer take it personally.

It’s actually Instagram, that’s helped draw me out of my cave and reinvigorated my movement. I love being able to share movement and since I never studied dance it’s all stored up in me. Every gesture holds galaxies of insights, uniquely our own and also undeniably linked to a collective consciousness far beyond calculation. And, well, in order to make my work visible and heard ... I need to amplify the volume, exaggerate the subtle, let go of comprehension, trust in the bigger picture and tell my story.

This whole social media phenomenon is fascinating.
Last February, when many aspects of my life were in flux, I made the decision to pour my heart into Instagram. It wasn’t overly strategic or pre-meditated, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have more of a personal brand but to be honest it was calling from my soul. I know that is so melodramatic! But it’s true.
