Welcome to Day 6 (Friday): #TealYogaWarriors
Here's a little grocery story for ya from one milk Allergy mom's perspective.
If you're new to allergies one of the most challenging and overwhelming things is learning to read labels. Can't tell you guys how many grocery store trips have put me in tears. When you first start looking at labels it feel like all the "good stuff" has your allergen in it. No matter what your allergen is, you want the thing you can't have. It can also be scary because your allergens can be hiding in unexpected foods and manufactures often use different names. For example milk can be: casein, cream, butter, tagatose, lactic acid, culture, whey, and more. Egg can be: albumin/albumen, globulin, vitellin, surimi, and more. I won't go on but you get the picture. Lots of crazy names for the same food.
Our favorite food brand quickly became @EnjoyLife! Specifically their amazing chocolate chips😍😋 I can't really explain it if you've never been in the situation, and I know they're not safe for everyone, but they truly gave us hope. Finding that one food that our whole family loved that was safe for our son was such a ray of light on some gloomy, difficult, tear-inducing grocery store trips. I know it sounds dramatic, but when food, one of the few things everyone needs to survive, can so easily kill a family member, random things like finding a favorite safe food can really change your life! So if you have a favorite go-to brand that's safe for YOUR family post it below, tag the brand if you can and tell us your Allergy(s)! Even if they aren't top 8 free. They are safe for you and that's what matters! .
