Sometimes you’ve just got to jump straight in. I was in a Pilates class yesterday morning, as a participant and the teacher still hadn’t turned up after 10 minutes. Turned out the studio was meant to get cover but forgot. So, wanting to be of service to the other people that had also gotten up early on a Sunday morning, I said to the studio (that I don’t teach at, but just train at) that I would teach a yoga class instead if they wanted. So, I just jumped right in, even though, in my head I’d geared myself up just to be led that morning, rather then lead. Sometimes you just have to step up to lead and, you never know, it might end up working out for you.
Turns out they were all (students and studio) really appreciate and I got great feedback. And I felt good for jumping out my comfort zone a bit too, teaching a fresh random class in a new space when I wasn’t “prepared”. Of course, if you can always be ready, then you don’t need to get ready.
