Chaturanga: the pose you love to hate until you can do it, and then you feel like a total goddess warrior every time and want to put at least 50 in every practice. Yep, I love me a chaturanga. But it took me nearly two years to get a proper form one (though obviously I spent the first year doing bad form ones because ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ). So here are my tips to get you there:
1. Doing bad form chaturangas WILL NOT build the strength you need to do good form ones. Long holds (2-5min) in bound headstand was the game changer for me. Knees down is also a good option.
2. If you cannot do a good form one, please please please put your knees down. Rotator cuff injuries are for life my friends ๐Ÿ˜ข. If your form deteriorates, there is no shame in switching half way through a practice either
3. The key to getting the 90 degree bend in your elbows which makes this pose ๐Ÿ‘Œ is to think FORWARD rather than down. In both the full and the half pose, you need to shift your weight forward before lowering. Video yourself and youโ€™ll see the difference
4. The next element of good form is keeping one straight line from shoulders to ankles as you lift/lower. You can see I was not doing this in the โ€˜thenโ€™ part of the video ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
5. Elbows in ๐Ÿ’ช
6. When you are flowing, donโ€™t forget to treat this as a pose in and of itself: there is nothing worse than a drive-by swooping chaturanga. Hold for a breath. Crikey, hold for a couple of breaths! When Iโ€™m flowing, I always hold at 90 degrees. When Iโ€™m repping out (as per the video), then Iโ€™ll go chest to floor .

Chakren auรŸer Balance?! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚Wie wรคr's denn mal mit einer CHAKRA AFFIRMATION? โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œIch bin (wie ihr viiieeelleicht schon mitbekommen habt๐Ÿ˜…) ja so ein kleiner Chakra-Freak und an allem interessiert, was das Leben schรถner und leichter macht. || A C A I || Post-Yoga bowl of goodness ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅฅ This aรงai bowl from @vidasurfstore is filled with almond butter, dates cinnamon, maca raw protein and banana. Up until recently this is something that would have been off limits to me as I was intolerant to ๐ŸŒ (which sucks as a veggie as itโ€™s a key ingredient in sooo many recipes!), however over the last few months I have slowly started to reintroduce banana into my diet. I am still a little cautious and wonโ€™t have it more than once a week... but itโ€™s soooo good to be able to have smoothies and aรงai bowls โœจ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜บ๏ธ Maybe someday Iโ€™ll be able to eat avocado ๐Ÿฅ‘ again too ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Everytime I put up a picture in a sports bra or shorts, I'm not doing it for followers. I'm not doing it to show off. I'm not selling out my body to be ogled at.
I'm doing it for me. Because by doing so, bit by bit, I shed the parts of me that whisper 'But what will everyone think?'.
Bit by bit, I'm taking control of my body. Believing that I own it, its mine to show or cover. And maybe I won't post this but it will matter to me, knowing that I took a step forward today.

My way to Yoga was quite long. I wasnโ€™t so patient to do asanas, so I started with meditation. Many years ago my mom and I have visited the Buddha temple in Kalmykia republic in Russia, where Iโ€™ve heard the first mantra in my life. Weโ€™ve bought a cd with this mantra and Iโ€™m listening to it since that day. I was doing meditation and became more calm and more happy. And I started feel that I want to do yoga also. It was difficult for me to find a yoga school at places Iโ€™ve been living in. And one day Iโ€™ve got to Taiwan. My friend took me to the yoga studio and I started go to yoga classes every day. Iโ€™ve tried many different types of yoga, hatha yoga became my favorite. Later I had to move from Taiwan and I couldnโ€™t find a good yoga studio. And Iโ€™ve got to make a plan! I came to Rishikeshโ™ฅ๏ธ

With Thanksgiving, a day of graciousness and gluttony fast-approaching, now is a fitting time of year to reflect on how we as teachers hold space for giving thanks. During the holiday season, it is easy to get complacent and teach from obvious, well-intentioned metaphors that are beautiful to say, but more complicated to present authentically. I cannot help but reflect on the many Thanksgiving-themed classes have I attended wherein the teacher tells me to open my palms to the world, to give and receive, and then follows with a practice seeped in heart-openers. Yes, I get it, and perhaps I am just contrarian, but I honestly do not remember the last time I took a holiday-themed class that was not a cookie-cutter presentation of the unique and messy process of being grateful. As I prepare my classes for the week, here are a few of the themes and ideas I will wrestle with as I try and hold space for gratitude, for my students, and for my honest self...
