Today a lot of jealousy bubbled up. I saw a peer get a teaching gig I feel better suited for and that ugly, needy and tricky feeling seared through my chest, up my throat into a puckered pursed lip with frown lines and a burrowed brow of disapproval. I could feel my heart beating faster, my eyes beginning to scour and my anxiety to DO something to WIN to "get ahead" start to take over my thoughts. I started playing out in my head what I would say to the people who hired this person instead of me, how I'd tell them off and how they'd be sorry for once again overlooking me, my skills, my value. Then just as I was about to sit down to my laptop and crank out a handful of new dance videos showcasing my "Amazingness", my inner wisdom stopped me. It said "it's happening again. And it's ok. And...you are still valuable. You are you. You are love. You are following your path. Your heart. Just breathe now. This will pass." And that's when I went to my mala beads. When these negative emotions bubble up in my (as they inevitably do) i find the only way to move through them in a constructive way is through love. So with my mala beads in hand I repeated 108 times "Ahem-prema", Sanskrit for I am love. And now, the knowledge that someone else is doing something I would have wanted to do or my ego thought I "should" be doing stung much less. Love is powerful. Love is real. I am love. Namaste ✌🏻❤️💫
