On the 6 💧

This is my first hike after the house robbery happened last year where every gadget that we worked hard for, including an external hard drive full of 3-5 years of travel memories was stolen. I never felt that I had to make up for the lost files so I’m sharing to you this stolen photo. I think candids are still the best ones! .
.
We never took “photoshoots” while travelling so seriously, but we did document a lot candidly. We want to take home memories of always traveling like a local and DIY-ing all our itineraries. Kinda sad since we are also into adventurous & mindful travel, we are detached from the online world and no real time photos were posted nor shared. We cherish the disconnection to the busy-ness of the internet & taking all the time to appreciate being just in the moment. We lost major “proof” that we had fun indulging in God’s wonderful creations.. on a budget, feeding our adrenaline junky selves, appreciating the hospitality of small players of local tourism industry, eating fresh farm food, living the life—the simple, happy, peaceful life.
.
.
Thankfully I moved past that since I believe the experience mattered the most. But during those times that we traveled, I thought to myself, some day, I’ll be able to share how a traveler should be like — consciously curious. However, I’m also confused on how to do that if the trend of millennial travelling today is all about mainstream tours of nice backdrops just for “the gram” & their #feedgoals. Is it just me or is anyone ever curious on how to deal with this amazing burden to connect with the Creator of the universe, immerse yourself in other culture, meet people, empower them through exchange of stories rather than prioritize your #travelOOTD, worry about how you will fit in a swimsuit that you bought online, bring all the props that you need for the IG-worthy flatlay, or take that perfect golden hour selfie on the beach? Tell me, how? I’m curious. How do we tell the next generation that traveling is to experience life? Life that isn’t about the validation they get from followers and likes? That there’s more beyond the “filtered” life? #doitforthegram .

Take the road less travelled, they said. But what if it's less travelled for a reason? #thoughtoftheday

“Mariveles is a seaside town in Bataan, known for its freeport area where designer bags and other products are being manufactured. But there’s more to their industrial zone, like the Five Fingers, a series of coves to the west of Mariveles, that look like five fingers spread out.” — @wheninmanila
