First of all, I have never tried to publish anything, so I don't have any experiences, but I would definitely try to get published by a publishing house first.
Why? It would be my first book and I really want someone professional to take care of the editing, the cover, the marketing.
I know you give away big parts of your freedom, but I'm not a control freak and gratefully accept any advice to make my book as good as possible.
I know as a self publisher I could do everything by myself, have every freedom, but seriously, noone wants to see the shitty cover I could make by myself (because I have no clue how to do it and we all judge books by their cover 😉)
I would also feel insecure about my own editing.
So if I'd self publish, I'd definitely save up money to get a professional cover and if I should also win the lottery, I'd pay someone to do the editing.
With that being said, I don't even know if I have the guts to try my luck with publishing at all 😅
I think if you'd compare me with a parent, my book is the child that gets raised protected and that I don't want to send into the big scary world, instead of pushing it out there, yelling "Where are the spotlights? Everyone, look at my baby!" - 😂 Okay, what am I even talking about?
I'll stop now.
Okay guys, what do you think? Self publishing or publishing house?
