I got the opportunity to attend the IKAA karate tournament in Fairbanks with my daughter for moral support. I did the tournament twice because an opponent came late. The first time I earned gold in the coed forms and silver in sparring. The second time I got second in forms and third in sparring. The competition is helping me overcome presenting precise moves knowing I'm being critiqued. So this was an immense accomplishment. I have a lot of work to do sparring. There was an unforeseen lifelong memory made as well. Merilyn and I drove up in the wee hours of morning and though the roads were horrible, we got to see the Northern Lights dance for a good half hour. Thank you team ACMA for training me and especially Shelby for kicking my butt.
