I remember the picture on the left of Lee Priest from back in the day as the standard "bulking" image. I think this picture was the main reason that I personally went on an uncontrolled all out bulk in my teens and I wouldn't be surprised if this picture encouraged others to do exactly what I did. I mean, if it worked for Lee Priest then it must work for me right?

The picture on the right is one of the last times I "bulked." As you can see, I still have visible abs and am not fat at all. I gained weight slowly and put on some fat but nothing crazy. There is no reason to get unnecessarily fat during a bulking phase. You don't become more hardcore by getting fat. Also, more overall weight doesn't necessarily yield more overall muscle.

A large majority of your overall strength comes from your core. A strong core is crucial for compound movements and athleticism. Be mindful of your breathing and core engagement when you do ALL exercises, not just core specific exercises. It will boost your overall strength and stability! #protip

BOX SQUATS!

Beginner? Coming back from injury? Haven't trained for years?
If you are any of those, then applying box squats in your routine to build your strength & preparation for full barbell squats is a useful place to start.
When you sit back, keep the tension everywhere and then stand back up. I see a lot of people sitting down and relaxing/or releasing the tension, but instead practice on holding everything tight.
When you feel confident here, progress to squats without the box when you can go much lower, and recruit more muscle.

Hitting some back exercises today. 💪🏽 When performing most workouts, especially with weights or resistance, you really want to make sure you lock up your core while keeping your back straight. This will utilize your muscle contractions in the most efficient way possible, while strengthening your abdominals and surrounding muscles as well as minimizing the risk of injury due to poor form. Be very careful when you are fatigued, as you will pay less attention to your form and open yourself up to possible injuries. I have pulled my back out on a couple occasions due to me just being tired and getting sloppy on my form. Good luck out there and get them gains. 💪🏽😁👍🏽

As we move from Summer into Fall, I don't know about you but this was always my least favorite time for one reason . . . . jeans! The thought of having to dig into my closet and find ONE pair of jeans that I knew would fit "comfortably" was torture.

I love Summer - flowy dresses and spandex, cover ups and bathing suits that could cover the parts of you you disliked the most were awesome. Move into fall and out comes the dreaded MUFFIN TOP. 💥STRENGTH vs. HYPERTROPHY💥

🍪 I get asked all the time about these two topics and I wanted to try my best at simplifying an often overcomplicated topic for you guys!

💪🏽 “Strength” implies that you’re getting stronger, while “Hypertrophy” implies increasing the size of your muscles (which allows them to be more toned and defined).

🔑 The key is not to do either strength or hypertrophy. Rather, do a little bit of both to get the best of both worlds! •
🎯 For heavier strength training keep most of your reps in the 1-5 range with 3-5 minute rest intervals, or until you are fully recovered.

🍩 For hypertrophy training keep the majority of your reps in the 6-12 rep range with 1-2 minute rest periods.

🏆 I would HIGHLY suggest starting your training with heavier strength work and follow it up with lighter hypertrophy work!

The color my preschoolers are learning but also the color of the Root Chakra.
Trust. Foundation. Stability. Security. Grounding.
Many people don't believe in the chakras and know little about them so they form opinions based on others' perspective.
But what many don't realize is that chakras are just a way for an individual to truly find out about themselves. It teaches an individual self-awareness.
Once self-awareness occurs, you begin to understand yourself and you begin to understand others.
Throughout my 18 weeks of pregnancy, I've had the my stability, security, and foundation ripped away from me. My root chakra has been off, to say the least, for multiple personal reasons.
Soon, I found that my root needed to be shaken in order to find strength in other areas.
I am who I am today, not because of what has happened to me but because of how I have reacted to what has happened to me.

Circuit training💪...TRX suspension trainer, core stix, battle ropes

Today is all about movement - i put in my toe separators and did lots of work on feet and ankles, glutes, thoracic spine mobility, and of course, some lovely hip stuff and thigh stuff, as you can see here.

Ohh yoga what would I do without ya?
Yoga has helped me in so many ways! I started going after my friend who also lifts @sidneyaustraliaaa invited me. I thought it wouldn’t be much of a workout but I was completely wrong! I get a big sweat on 💦 just a few of the benefits ⤵️
🌺relaxes the mind
🌺helps with flexibility
🌺opens up a tight back/stretches sore muscles
🌺low impact training-good break from lifting

🥑Avocado and 🍑Peach Porridge (#highfiber)

Keeps your full with fiber! ⭐️👉🏻Ingredients: 👉🏻1 ripe peach
👉🏻1 cup oats (grab gluten free)
👉🏻1 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
👉🏻1 tbsp chia seeds
👉🏻1.5 cups water
👉🏻1/2 an avocado, finely sliced ⭐️👉🏻Directions: 👉🏻Slice peaches into cubes (save 1/4th for topping) 👉🏻Add the gluten-free oats, chia seeds and water - cook on medium heat. The peach should start to break down. 👉🏻Add oats into bowl when done with the remaining peach and avocado.
