Are you living a life where your entire day consists of second-guessing yourself, and agonizing over all the things you did or might do wrong?
.
We see this all of the time in fitness and dieting:
.
▪️Should I eat carbs before or after my workout?
▪️What time of day is the best time to workout?
▪️What’s the best protein powder with no added sugars?
.
I’d like to share a philosophy that’s helped change my perspective on tough challenges:
.
Instead of focusing on reducing the bad, I like to increase the good.
.
It’s like someone who wants to lose weight. The usual advice says “Don’t eat that, or that, or that.” (Notice how negative it is. Plus people hate to be told to stop doing something.)
.
My approach? “Forget about what not to eat. Start by eating THIS, and THIS, and THIS.”
.
Don’t reduce the bad. Increase the good.
.
This simple psychological shift — of focusing on doing more of the positive, instead of reducing the negative — can completely change your life.

Happy Monday Y’all 😀
- lets get it -
reDEFINE YOUrself

FACT OR MYTH? What do you think?

Pain is often a sense of pride for gym goers. You're not working hard enough unless you hurt. But that pain won't do you any good if you're sidelined by it later.
Discomfort as a result of exercise should be limited to your working muscles alone. You need to gauge when and where pain occurs during an exercise. Say you're performing a split squat.

If your quads and glutes burn at the end of a rep or set, the pain is typically a result of your working muscles getting tired. It's when you feel pain in your working muscles at the start of a rep or set, pain in your joints, or pain in non-targeted muscles that you should stop. It could be a warning sign of injured muscles, tendons, or ligaments. "The reality is, you shouldn't have any discomfort except for muscle fatigue.

Now, we're not suggesting your workouts be unchallenging. Some discomfort is a good thing. Your working muscles need to be pushed so you can build strength and ignite growth. However, your muscles don't have to suffer to indicate a quality workout. Performing an extra rep or set today will hardly make a difference in the long run. If you feel pain, back off. That way you can work toward your goals tomorrow instead of icing an injury. -credits to Kelsey Cannon from Women's Health

Quote from #theonething
Success demands singleness of purpose.

You need to be doing fewer things for more effect instead of doing more things with side effects.

It is those who concentrate on but one thing at a time who advance in this world.

Passion for something leads to disproportionate time practicing or working at it. That time spent eventually translates to skill, and when skill improves, results improve. Better results generally lead to more enjoyment, and more passion and more time is invested. It can be a virtuous cycle all the way to extraordinary results.

The ONE Thing shows up time and again in the lives of the successful because it’s a fundamental truth.

More than anything else, expertise tracks with hours invested.

The pursuit of mastery bears gifts.

When people look back on their lives, it is the things they have not done that generate the greatest regret...People’s actions may be troublesome initially; it is their inactions that plague them most with long-term feelings of regret.

Make sure every day you do what matters most. When you know what matters most, everything makes sense. When you don’t know what matters most, anything makes sense.

Remember to stretch!!!!! I usually devote at least 20 minutes per workout to stretching. 10 before and at least 10 after. Not only does this help get your muscles ready for your workout, but it helps to prevent excess strain and helps with soreness! #plussizefitness #gymmotivation #stretchingtips #stretchitout #GetBendy #musclehelp #strengthtraining #workouthabits #positivevibes

@physiqonomics with this gem of a post that is both fun and true. I can’t help but tell you the more you can ignore all the mainstream fitness marketing out there, the better off you’ll be. You’ve been mislead and conditioned to believe what they tell you. And even though, at this point, you’ve gotten passed the BS, the frame of reference they’ve given you still has an effect on what you think is realistic or ideal.

Happy Monday! I discussed a bit about the book The Power of Habit last week. But as I was reading about the habit loop: cue, routine, reward, I realized how well this works with a workout program. -
Did you know the best thing to eat post workout (weight lifting) is simple sugar? Well that’s your reward! If endorphins aren’t enough, that is. -
So create a cue, like getting up eating breakfast and working out, or bringing your workout bag to work with you and going after work. Then get to working out and reward yourself with some low fat sugar. I’ve been doing chocolate milk for months now 😊

It has been cloudy and rainy here for the past few days. This morning I just wanted to stay in bed. I was tired and groggy. But of course I got up and got my workout in. And of course I felt great during and after.
-
I feel like sometimes my best workouts are the ones I don’t want to do or I’m tired to start. That’s part of the reason I did it. The other part is that it’s my habit to go to the gym before work.
-
I’m reading The Power of Habit, I highly recommend this book! It discusses the habit loop, how habits are formed, willpower and how to use all this to your advantage.
