Today was an all out inner battle for me! Grace has been sick for a week and we went BACK to the Dr. for the second time this week (and yes it’s only Wednesday!)

Yes, she’s sick and today was diagnosed with an ear infection BUT she was all out horrible while at the drs office and then pharmacy. Like pushing me to my limit horrible. .
As I drove home I debated skipping my workout and drowning my feelings in leftover Halloween candy, like literally debated over and over until I finally realized, my workout is exactly what I needed...to push through my emotions and work through them with exercise. So that’s exactly what I did. Cooked her lunch and pushed play...and guess what? My desire to binge through my anger and frustration is gone! 😊. Win for me today!

How do you cope when your kids push your buttons for hours on end?

I will never understand some things in life. I will never understand why some people do what they do. I will never understand why I give give give and some people just take for whatever reason (and sometimes they may not even realize it). My face explains how I feel about all that, but you can only control yourself. I skipped grit today; I just wasn't feeling it today bc life was just affecting me today plus Ev is feeling crappy and needed a nap. However, this is when I need my escape, my sanity, time to clear my head. Not sure it helped, but it helped for now. Back to my busy frickin' day! 😩

So sleepy this morning, couldn’t get to sleep last night ... hmmmm, could it be because we posted our good news late or was it because my tummy was upset and I couldn’t breathe when I laid down?! I really needed this few mins of yoga to stretch my body and just be conscious of how I am feeling. Which isn’t the greatest, I’ve caught another cold.

I reached out to my Fit Fam today to tell them how I was struggling with my workouts and so I was making myself accountable to come home and get this done. And I’m thankful that I did!

Lucy wanted in on it so I just let her sit and stare at me lol

Never a DULL MOMENT in the Santiago house!🤣🤣🤣 Who else has a husband🙆‍♂️, child🏃‍♀️or animal🐕 that tries to get in their way while working out?🏋️‍♀️ AIN'T NOTHING STOPPING ME! 💣💪

A fellow coach suggested I try this 23 min weight workout and I loved it! Sometimes it’s not the amount of time we spend working out or the intensity of the workout but just spending the time being active. This was perfect!

You know why I workout? For my mental health. Yep. That's right. Sure I love muscles and sweat and feeling strong, but it's also my therapist.

And believe me, while I've dealt with injuries and now mono this year, I've felt a huge difference in my mental health. When my workout game is on point, I'm happier. When my workouts suffer, so do my emotions.

A hard morning to wake up and get a workout in. I would have preferred to get up, get under a blanket and watch some tv. But I knew what I had to do ... for myself.
I knew I’d be up early with the time change so I promised myself to get into my workout gear as soon as I got up. And that’s what happened. 30 min Core workout done!

HOLY SQUATS BATMAN 😱
This workout focused on our butts, our gluts! And wowza, those muscles are on 🔥 right now!! Today I cursed a little at the trainer. I just wanted to stop, I wanted a break. My muscles were screaming at me lol but then, as much as I was hoping it would be over soon, the 30 mins went by so fast!! This is one of those workouts that I want to do, an area that I want to tone but I will complain about it during the workout lol human nature I guess lol

Last workout of this 7-day program, ended with core. Not your typical on the floor core workout either - this was a full body workout, focusing on the core. I loved it!

I still am unsure what program I’ll do next. The one good thing is that there is no lack of programs ... we have the Netflix of workouts and trainers at our disposal. I just need to pick one - I’d prefer to go from start to finish, rather than just picking a workout at random each day.

I wasn’t feeling 100% yesterday, I didn’t have much energy for anything. Because of that, I skipped my workout. However, I woke up this morning, got into my gear and went right to it. Strength day 💪🏻 Another 30 mins that flew by. Really enjoying this 7-day program, it may be one that I come back to visit every so often between the longer programs.

WHY DOES CARDIO ALWAYS GET SCHEDULED ON FRIDAYS?!!! This was a repeat of Monday’s workout. As much as I think I dislike cardio, this particular workout isn’t so bad - I must admit that the 30 mins flew by.

It was a cold, goosebumps cold, morning. And my legs 😱 having to squat to sit or use them to go down a flight of stairs 🔥 ouchie.
Just goes to show what missing a month of workouts can do ... especially once you start using your muscles again. But the burn is good, it’s a good feeling.

As we moved through today’s workout and each set of reps, I started crying 😢 when the trainer demonstrated MORE SQUATS!! I was like NOOOOOOO! Haven’t we done enough of them already this week?! But guess what, I was able to do all the moves, all sets of squats, and I actually really loved this core workout 💖

Well isn’t this a good memory to pop up in my Facebook news feed!

It was one year ago today, while I was away in Las Vegas for a work conference, since I came out of the closet and admitted to those who wanted to listen what I was doing.

And let me tell you, I was so anxious and scared that morning - it took a lot of convincing to press the “post” button but once I did, the outpouring of support was overwhelming 💖 as much as I worried about what people would think and judge me for what I was doing, I got such great feedback and so much love from everyone.

It’s ok to be scared ...
Don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid to try!

And wow, looking at how much has my life changed since then, it’s crazy - so much has happened and yet, I didn’t make a ton of changes.

For sure there have been struggles, but there have also been successes. For those who still follow me and my journey, you know that I’m currently just coming out of the biggest struggles I’ve had so far where I lost some momentum. It’s taken me quite some time to get back on track. But the good part of it is, I’m getting back on track. I didn’t derail completely and I didn't revert back to old habits.

And I know that I’ll always be a work in progress. Because I’ll always be working on me and working on my health. As I go through this journey and have days where I think "hmmm, how am I really doing with this?" I just have to remember that I am in a much better place today than I was yesterday.

So tell yourself to keep going 🏃🏽‍♀️
