Don't simply drop down into a lunge, think pull yourself down into tension. Then with intention and purpose, contract your glute/quad to drive out of the bottom. .
During a push-up think pull yourself down and stretch into the muscle on the way down, then mentally contract your pecs to drive yourself back up. .
Don't simply lift up. Be mentally focused and purposeful. Use your brain to engage as much muscle fiber as possible to make that movement. .
