Lately I’ve been considering downsizing to some sort of sub-compact gun. Naturally, because mine has been so good to me and I know they are known for dependability, I was looking into the options Glock has to offer. However, after shooting both the 26 and 43, it made me think a little harder about the idea. There is a reason I went with the 19 just in how it shoots. The 26 is snappy and with the thicker grips due to double stack, it’s not comfortable and I’d need lots of work before I’d feel comfortable enough to carry it. The 43, while I liked how it felt in my hands and could handle it much better, I worry about the mag capacity. Idk if that’s purely because I put so much weight into that in my original search due to where we lived or if it’s really a factor for me all around. But the following question keeps nagging at me, since I’ll most likely be with my daughter if a situation occurs and I have to draw my weapon, is the larger weapon a stronger deterrent for the attacker to either stop and listen, or run away than a smaller framed gun? Is it enough of a factor that I should stay with a larger gun for now? Should I not mess with a good thing that’s working? It’s throwing all sorts of wrenches in my gears. What are your guys’ thoughts?
