This post from @words_of_women gave us all the feels today. Incredibly proud of the women of Ireland who took part in this quiet revolution and traveled near and far to make their voices heard and, in turn, to make history. 🧡
Irish women living outside of #Ireland returning to vote for determining right to abortion/reproductive health/pro-choice.
Yesterday, The Republic of Ireland voted overwhelmingly to overturn the abortion ban by 66.4% to 33.6%. Currently, abortion is only allowed when a woman's life is at risk, but not in cases of rape, incest or fatal foetal abnormality. A woman who was caught trying to give herself an abortion would receive 14 years in prison. A rapist only receives 7... So proud of all the women of Ireland.
