Its just as well it was beautiful because that was a TOUGH race. Hilly, rainy and plagued by niggles, I was just so happy to make it to the finish line. •
It started badly as I nearly threw up on the long bus ride to the start around the twisty roads, then went downhill from there. •
Had a horrible stitch nearly the whole way round, every time I tried to run, so I couldn’t run anywhere near the paces I wanted, and was fit enough to run. So frustrating. I had the same problem from around mile 16 in Chicago. Not sure if it’s lack of salt, or something else.
From mile 18 really struggled with my knee, which has been causing me trouble ever since my trail tumble.
I found the empty roads and very limited crowd support psychologically tough too, especially when I was struggling •
Got nowhere near my goal, which was slightly disappointing, but ultimately I’m just thrilled to have made it round. I had to dig deep, and feel like I really earned that medal! Big kudos to my brother Scott who smashed his sub-4 hour goal 🏅🎉
