So there I sat, the Sun setting to my left, the Scorpio Moon rising to my right and the words YOU burning in front of me. More symbolic a moment there could not have been, possibly in my life. The end of that day, the end of the Burn and the end of one very crazy chapter of my life, the end of ME. As I sat there on my own for the umpteenth time that Burn, I reflected on everything that had happened at this particular Burn, everything that has happened over the past two months, everything that has happened over the past two years. It was time to burn ME (YOU), it was time for change.
The theme of this years Burn was Under Construction. Looking back at this Burn and where myself and many of my close friends were in our lives at that very time, it could not have been a more appropriate theme…in every sense of the word. Our lives were literally under construction. Long standing relationships, family ties, friendships, businesses...falling to pieces or demolished, some foundations withstanding the storms of life, some not, some rebuilt, some never completed, some still hanging in the balance. One giant metaphorical construction site – a complete chaotic mess. And in the weeks that followed Burn, the process of restoration. New projects started, new friendships made, old friendships mended. Putting it all back together one brick at a time. Under construction indeed. How did you know AfrikaBurn? Aaah Tankwa Town you crazy beautiful special place 💕
