This is what I mean when I say stumbling through the double under portion of the workout. You can see the difference in timings between the two exercises. 10D U’s v 10 TTB.😫

Taking inspiration from @marcusfilly this evening with a challenging clean & jerk workout!
.
This workout is only a short blast but man is it effective. I’m fairly new to these movements so any opportunity I can give my body to experience them is quality!
.
The workout involves 10 rounds for time with a gradual increase in load & decrease in volume. .
The workout:
Round 1: 10 C&J @ 50kg.
Round 2: 9 C&J @ 60kg.
Round 3: 8 C&J @ 70kg.
..and so on! 😅
.
I added 10kg per round until I got to round 6 where I added 5kg.
.
If you swipe to video two you can see my limit! I managed to make it to round 6 completing all prescribed reps .. although I segmented the final round into threes & twos😅see my final 2! Slow mo elbows 😅
.
So with the maths it’s works out as
50+ 4 rounds of 10 kg & 1 round of 5 kg= 95kg for 5 reps! 😅
.
It’s good to fail, I know my limit, I’m aware of my baseline. I know why I need to do to improve. Knowing is better than not knowing. The goal for the future is to make at least one more rep in the next round @ 100kg.

Oh and btw I completed all rounds in under 19 minutes🤨 & that was the PM workout done! .

AM FUN (fasted) workout in my new ‘gym in progress’ ; improving on my weak areas. Still trying to master these butterfly pull ups.

Did want to add double unders in but the gravel was tearing my rope apart.. & I absolutely suck at them so I really need the practice time!
.
The workout was 10rounds ( usually for time) but as I was mastering the technique of my two weak areas( pull ups/ pistols) I worked on just that:
10 rounds
3 HSPU
12 Butterfly pull-ups - I need to kick my legs the opposite way- thanks @wodprep
6 alternating pistols
15 American kettlebell swings @20kg

I set myself the target of 4 rounds and managed to squeeze out an extra round completing my TTB literally a second before the bell! 😂🙌🏻

I’m gunna take this opportunity to mention how much progress I have made on my toes to bar! Literally a week ago I couldn’t string two together, with the @crossfitgames open quickly approaching I feel confident in TTB showing their face! 😂

The human body is an amazing thing. Don’t believe the myth that adults can’t learn like children. Within the right environment there is no limit to learning! You just have to challenge yourself in the first place!

Slugging through these movements in preparation for the open & @crossfit in general, taking some awesome advice from @wodprep - not going in with any expectation & knowing I will most definitely be better this time next year! - just feeling blessed that I have the capacity to be able to perform any of these movement, working arms, working legs.. a working brain & a facility that encourages me to swing around on a bar for entertainment!

I HATE #ringrows.

Ring rows are the most default, granny move in #crossfit. Can’t do #pullups? Do ring rows instead. Still working on #muscleups? That’s cool, scale on down to ring rows. Can’t do much of ANYTHING on the #crossfitrack because you barely have any #upperbodystrength? Ring rows. Ring rows ring rows ring rows ringrows ringrowsringrowsrngrswrwgrns.

At the rate I’ve been going it’s going to be me and Barb from Accounting doing these damn ring rows in the back of the #crossfitbox from now until eternity. So I’m doing something about it.

One of my #fitnessgoals for #2018 is #strictpullups. I found a progression I like over on #wodprep. One move I really like from it is the #seatedpullup . I’m positioned closer to how I’d be doing an actual pull up than if I were doing ring rows. I’ve even started incorporating them into the regular #wods instead of ring rows. Because did I mention I hate them?

Another week, another challenge. 😶

Sitting here in my 10 minute squat thinking about this evenings session. Getting myself used to being uncomfortable under fatigue & had go at last year’s 17.5 @crossfitgames open wod. Literally felt like giving up as soon as I started 😅
.
Swipe right to check it out of you are unfamiliar- the workout involved 10 rounds for time: 9 thrusters @ 43 kg & 35 double unders.

The double unders are a skill I am still yet to master and would consider myself an absolute rookie. If you saw me 😂😂
.
Therefore I chose to scale the workout down to 20 double unders per round(200 in total) - it is a skill I have to improve at so I will not shy away from any workout including them. You can either avoid challenges like the plague & never improve or get used to being uncomfortable & make steps to getting better!
.
Even if tonight’s workout made me feel like I have never picked up a skipping rope in my life- I still embrace the challenge 😂😭
.
Tbh...The scaled DU’s still made up for 70% of my time 😂 oh well. This is a time that I know I will smash in the future! The whole way through I was thinking of SAS who dares wins & those lads mental toughness to carry on! Especially #14 @johnbrincat80 ! 😂

The next 48 hours is recovery time, learning new things everyday!

It’s so exciting and definitely makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning! Using inspiration from @squat_university & @mobilitywod & having a go at this 10 minute squat test to see where my weaknesses are & as If I need an excuse to get into this awesome position.. setting up the tripod (heel, big and little toe) it feels refreshing, you gotta sit in this position more often, especially if your someone who has a sedentary work day!
