"I'm fortunate enough to work with my very best friends in a Trauma center in Gainesville, Florida. During Hurricane Irma we were called in for more than 24 hours. What do you do? Make a pillow pallet during your rest period and make the best of it.
We all signed up to be Team A... to be there before and during the storm and to take care of the people directly impacted by the storm. We are a level one trauma center so the worst accidents come to us. Fortunately, we didn't get many trauma patients but we were there and ready for them.
There isn't much room to sleep, so we kept our uniform on... follow "hair covering and OR scrub standards", found some pillows and blankets, and rested on the operating room floor!
It had a great impact on me. So many nurses and scrub techs signed up for team A and were willing to stay as long as needed, away from their homes and families, to be ready to care for patients. In times of crisis, you see the best in people!" #wcw #wednesday #hurricanerelief #hurricane #hurricaneirma #irma #nurse #nursing #nurselife #dedicaion #sacrifice #firstresponders #wnw
